What do you guys think of the potential of using Lamin-X, either gunsmoke or smoke to cover my chrome/aluminum window trim on my 135i- I am wondering if it will be flexible enough and will stick right. If so I think it could make a nice dark/grey smoked but still shiny effect, would go well with the carbon fiber mirrors and possibly the diffuser I plan to add and then also with gunsmoked rims.

Hmmmm, sounds interesting. But I've have to see it in person.
I'd love to have shadowline trim on mine, but I can't see spending that kind of money for a pure cosmetic change...

I think it would look great. Lamin-X is plenty flexible, although fairly expensive - I'm not sure how you would by thin strips like that. I think it is a good idea.

Just use blackout tape. Works great.

hey guys, yea i think it's just too expensive, I used dvpouldar26's advice and decided to go with with the gloss black trim he used on his car- pic here- http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m...6/HPIM0225.jpg and I think it's gonna come out pretty nice. I am going to use it on the grill surround too for the whole shadowline look, just haven't decided on chrome or black grill inserts, I'll have to see each in person, probably go with all black though (I get to choose because my bro's got a 128i with the shadowline grill so I'll be using his old one to test the surround)
anyway thanks for chiming in and I would like to see this done too but I just don't want to fork over for it because there are too many other things I want, especially the Dinan tune |

Sounds like it would be interesting, but not sure how it would look. I just used vinyl with a 3m adhesive backing to get my chrome trim on my e46 gone.
I guess it's worth a shot to try it, but I'm not sure if it would look better for the price difference. |
