Help regarding 335i convertible

Hi, I am very interested in the 335i convert, and i just recently found a used 2007 at the dealership for $42991, w/ Sport package, and 4600 miles.

The price looks sweet, and i was able to get it down to $38750 (not OTD), and i'm sure they can do down a bit more too.

i've always been a fan of this car but i have not done my research on any TSBs, known problems with the car, or the hard top mechanism. I'm on the brink of getting back on teh table to negotiate, and any information would be greatly helpful!

Thank yoU!

well...anything is covered for quite a few more miles..obviously the hpfp is still an issue, runflats wear like crap and dont ride that great...but some like them. the hard top mechanism is mostly troublefree...

Only problems I know of that are common are common to all 3s, the High Pressure Fuel Pumps go bad. They are covered under warranty but other than that, no problems. I also hear most people prefer to NOT get the active steering. It is unneeded and sometimes intrusive or strange feeling. I have 22k on mine and love it.

yah i dont need anything else. its perfect the way it is. i could live with the Gray interior, i love the 6spd.

so the HFPF is the only major issue eh? i'm not sure if the car has been serviced for that tho.

also, i'm interested in changing my own oil after the service/warranty period. is that possible? i hear theres no oil dipstick tho....and i'd expect on a car with turbos, there'd at least be a dipstick.

i dont like run flats, plan to change them asap of course.

I bought the convertible and have no regrets. I've heard some people have problems with a fluttering/pressure sensation in the cabin from 45-60 mph but I don't. The hard top mechanism hasn't given me any problems and the car feels as solid as a coupe. You should definitely get the vert, especially if you can get a good deal on it.

I've had my E93 for about a year and a half, and haven't had any problems. As far as I know, there are no issues that are specific to the convertible, and my folding top has worked flawlessly. I had two ragtop verts before this car, and the difference in sound with the top up is amazing. The price you've negotiated so far seems quite good (KBB shows a dealer retail of about $45k for a well-optioned E93), and if you can get it down any further, it should be an awesome deal.

Ask them to put it thru a touchless car wash and see if the top leaks from the corners of the windshield frame. If it leaks more than a few drops, don't buy it.

Check to see if the car is a BMW buyback or trade assist. If it is, the dealer is supposed to tell you why the car was bought back or traded. I had an 07 and I had an issue with the "fluttering noise". BMWNA arranged a trade on an 09. So far, no problems with it. I had no other issues with my 07.

had my vert for a year no problems except alot of dust inside the car from driving with the top ALWAYS down
because of possible interior dust and dirt, best if you can get dark / black leather interior (note all verts have specially treated heat resisitant leather)

you will love the e93, but do not lose the deal haggling over a few hubndred bucks. a year from now that money will not mean a thing.
lastly, our verts are approx 400 pounds heavier than the coupes which = approx 40 hp.
get alot of mods if you want to keep up or pass a new M3.
mods like JB3, IC, catless dps, cai, forge DVs, LSD... you get the idea

it was traded in to a Merc-Benz dealer. its sitting at this dealership right now. i test drove it today and everything seemed in ok order.

its Montego Blue w/ gray interior, i guess a good compromise between cream and black. i'd prefer either but i dont mind gray.

it was cold today, but the top up kept it nice n warm i really love this car.

and of course, i do plan to mod but gota get the car first this would be the first time i'm considering a "used" vehicle. i usually buy all new. but this is such a sweet deal i think.

i got the carfax....looks like it was a lease for a year...

Sounds like a clean car. Drive it with the top up, HVAC off, radio off, all windows completely up. Find a smooth road and drive at a steady 45 mph slowly increasing the speed in 5 mph increments to 60 mph. Drive at each increment for a couple of minutes. Note any buffeting sensation or vibrations. If none, you are good to go.

i've had mine for about 4 months, and so far no real problems (knock on wood).....
the HPFP is always a possible issue.....
and I agree, have the car run thru a touchless to make sure no leaks,
and try the top mechanism, make sure there are no problems with the windows....i had an issue with one of the rear windows staying up halfway when the top was down....i felt like a real loser when after driving for half an hour like a stud, that this shark-fin window was half up! took it to the dealer, ran a program fix.....

good luck with the deal man! you wil LOVE this car......LOVE!

You can change your own oil if you want too just use the recommended oil. Alot of us change the oil halfway through to the next oil change. And yes there is no oil dipstick its electronic.

my E93 is an MY aug/2007 build, only problems i've had are the fluttering at 55-65mph which you will hear with the top up and the windows closed...still have to get that fixed, there is a TSB out for that. The switch for the top was faulty causing it to slam, so they replaced the microswitch, it is fixed now.

Other than that, just a few small things, like the rear orange LEDS for driver's rear are out...uhh what else...nothing much besides that.

*knocks on wood*

Hopefully you can join the Houston E93 club

That is a good idea. See if you can sit in the car while it goes through the wash. If it does leak and you're not there to see it, you may not get the full story...

I had the infamous break squeal on my car. Brought it in during a service check-up, mentioned it to my SA, and they ended up replacing the rear brake pads and rotors. No hassle there.

My CD player went all screwy on me once - it refused to play CDs for a bit, then skipped horribly (it was a brand new CD), then cut out completely and got an error on the audio display (I don't have iDrive). Pulled over, turned it off, turned it back on and the problem mysteriously went away. Never came back, either.

Either than that, I have had nearly 10,000 near-problem-free miles on my e93

I have an 03/08 build e93 that I picked up via Euro delivery. It has been a fantastic car and there has been no serious problems. My main gripe is that the top and side windows make some light rattling noises. I attribute it as typical for a mechanical top but will get it checked out at my next service.

mine has the same problem... rattling noise from the driver side window - the dealer cannot fix it though I have been able to reproduce the noise to them.
