Those Darn Shopping Carts (Idrive complaint)
So, any of you 2009'er who have IDrive may be familiar with this problem (I don't know if it occured in the past).
If you have map facing any direction on your screen, and your are zoomed into to 400ft magnification, you get little shopping cart icons all over the screen. If you happen to be driving on a main street with lots of commericial activity, the map becomes pretty unreadable. If you zoom out, or enable the traffic map (which negates all POI icons), the shopping carts go away. However, unchecking the shopping cart POI in the relevant settings menu has no effect. Thoughts? Others having this problem? Am I misunderstanding what is happening or is this a legitimate bug that I have to complain to BMW about?

Might want to take a closer peak at my post:
If you zoom out, or enable the traffic map (which negates all POI icons), the shopping carts go away. However, unchecking the shopping cart POI in the relevant settings menu has no effect. Hiding the shopping car icon has no effect.

If hiding the shopping carts has no effect, it sounds like a software glitch and you should go to BMW to get it checked out.

Possibly. I would like to hear what expereinces others have had with this issue though, because I might be missing something.
P.S. To I335 - apologies if my response came off snippy. You were obviously trying to help, which I appreciate.

I have the same problem. Also did you notice that night mode does not function correctly either. If you have perspective mode, traffic info, and night mode on at the same time it cancels out night mode.

you can choose to find another POI, like a BMW dealer which are not that commonplace. That way the icons on the screen will be reduced.

I'm going to contact BMW about the shopping cart bug though. It pisses me off.

Here you go.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=194326 In a nutshell, my friend has an '09 M3 with the shopping cart issue. It's a known issue with no current fix. Hopefully BMW will release a firmware fix for that.

There is a fix for this: just turn on "Traffic Maps" - that cancels out all icons.

Well okay, yes by definition if you turn off all icons these go away. Those of us discussing this topic earlier didn't really consider that a good option....thus "no fix".
Another "fix" is to keep the view out past 400 ft.

100% agree. Its not a fix. Its a work around. I'm pissed off about it, and I intend to complain to the dealer. .

Did you ever take this problem to the dealer? I curious to know if they can actually do something, or if we just have to deal with it for now. I'm getting tired of leaving it at 800ft. zoom.

The last "info" that was asked for something like grocery store. Try Info for gas and the shopping carts will change to little fuel pumps. iDrive thinks you are still interested in your last Info request. Click on Info and a crossed line will go thru it and no icons will show up on the screen until you ask for a new Info request.

+1 It doesn't matter what category you viewed last - you will be in shopping cart city no matter what....

Just as an update, I took my car to the dealer today for another problem and mentioned the shopping cart issue. They said BMW is aware of the problem, but still investigating. No fix yet.
