BMW Certified Collision Center Opinions...

I know it's too late because my car is already at the center, but...
Do any of you have opinions on BMW CCRC's ?
Experiences?
Are they REALLY better or is it all hype ?

Mine in at the new Hassel facility in Freeport, NY.

Thanks

I had my car fixed at a BMW authorized repair center (in Denver) and I couldn't be happier with the results. The total cost of the damage was $14,000 and by looking at the car you will NEVER know that it was in an accident. And trust me, I couldn't be more anal about my car.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your repairs

No question you should use a certified center.

There is significant training required to work on newer BMWs and certified collision centers have to keep their staff up to date and fully trained.

In my experience they are fully sorted. Couple of benefits:

They have a nice ongoing relationship with the dealer so if you need anything mechanical or some small tweaks you seem to get in a lot faster than some joe on the street.

Practice makes perfect. They have a $hitload full of crashed BMW's and there is NOTHING they haven't seen before. THey have all the latest training with regards to returning your car to its former glory.

You know that EVERYTHING will be OEM. No chinese knock-offs.

Peace of mind with regards to all of the above.

I SHOULD be getting the car back tomorrow or Monday.

Thank You Once Again.

As for the hit and run ASSHOLE who did this to my otherwise SPOTLESS car....:finger:

I hit a deer at 12,000 miles. It was on the right front corner. I had my car fixed at a certified BMW repair center. They did an excellent job. It was a $4800 repair. New fender, hood, bumper, headlight, and core support. Paint matching is excellent (although it chips easier than the factory).

Keep in mind that once you have it fixed, go to the dealer and have them certify the repair to maintain the body warranty.

Interesting...

Just what do you mean by "certify the repair ? "

IMHO, definitely worth it to go to body shop that is trained in BMW specific repair procedures. most dealers outsource body work, so find the shop they outsource too and go directly there

If you read your warranty booklet, it will tell you that to maintain the warranty provisions, you must have the repair certified by your BMW dealer. There is a space in the back of the booklet for the dealer to stamp and notarize that the repair was completed in accordance with BMW specifications.

A co-worker's E46 M3 had all three passenger-side panels scrapped in the parking lot of the restaurant he was having dinner in. The culprit did not even leave a note (I mean come on, man-up to your mistakes in life!).

Anyway, he took the car to the local certified collision center and while it took five weeks to repair, once out the car looked PERFECT.

We spent a good bit of time looking for any evidence of damage/overspray/etc. and we could not spot anything.

I have had very negative experiences with the certified BMW body shop in my area. They returned a bumper repaint with multiple flaws covered with touch up paint! On the revisit to paint again they really showed their colors by taking longer than promised and in general screwing things up on the office side. You might find another reputable body shop.

I'd be willing to bet that MOST certified BMW collision ctrs are gr8. However, never, I MEAN NEVER, take a car you care about to the only BMW dealer in Jacksonville. I had a $7000 t-bone repair that they fixed in only 13 months (no typo) They tried twice to give it back to me unfinished. It took a lawyer and the media to convince them to fix it correctly. PM me with questions, north FLA guys.

Had 4 or more repairs done by one over the years to my 2 5ers. All the work looked like new and held up well. I always looked at the cars that were just completed and all of them came out very well.

And un fact if you are having accessories installed they are great because they are at about $40 an hour compared to the dealers over $100.
