For those w/o Premium Package
Does anyone besides me think the lumbar support on the non lumbar adjustable standard seats is way too high? today was the first day i spent a lot of time in the loaner car i have and the leatherette combined with the high lumbar left my back really hurting after about 85 miles of driving.

Never bothered me on my car. I thought the sports seats were perfectly fine.

i liked the seats in my range rover too. not enough side support bc the car did roll quite a bit, no matter how slowly u took a turn. but i could drive that car for 4-5 hours and never get tired

yeah my e46 didnt have sport only base so those seats werent for me. lol
my e90 has sport so i use the side bolsters and thigh support. best seat ive had so far. although the 5 and 7 series seat are the best with the comfort seat option. i wont have either of those anytime soon so. even when i drive a 7 or 5 and the lumbar is filled or adjusted out. i move it in or deflate it immediately. lol

I don't bother with my lumbar, I drove a car without premium, but with power/sport seats. That was find, but the genius at the dealer forgot to get heated seats (in maine)
The only thing I don't like is manual seats, I feel like they aren't as adjustable, but that could be me not figuring them out...

I have leather and sport but don't have PP.. don't ask.. The lack of lower back support is wearing on my back after a year.
Need to find some kind of solution. The seat is to 'sunken' without the lumbar IMO |

I think mine is fine w/o the lumbar.
My back was hurting when I first got it too. Turns out I was sitting 1-2 inch too far back. 1 inch closer to the steering wheel and all has been perfect. |

I have sport package but not premium so sports seats but no lumbar support. So, I did a "retrofit" by taking the back of the seat off and initially inserted a folded towel down where the lower chamber of the lumbar support's lordosis pad would go. I find that I like it as low as it would go. In my previous car, an E46 330i with premium + sports packages, I would only ever inflate the lower chamber of the lumbar support. I didn't like it too far up. Later for my E90 335i I took the retrofit a bit farther and bought a lordosis pad from the dealer and hooked it up to the pump for the side bolsters that I never used so I can use that switch to inflate/deflate the lumbar support but there is no control of teh individual upper & lower chambers so I disabled the upper one. Next step is to install the proper lumbar support switch and pump to get full control. The folded-up towel was a good solution though.

I have the premium seats. They're OK but they don't seem to hit my back as well as the Acura seats do. I don't really blame BMW for that though - my back is a war zone from a car accident very early in my life.
A better solution then altering you seat might be an aftermarket lumbar aid. I'm not talking about a crappy plastic cushion like you can get at Pep Boys. You can start by visiting one of those "Relax the Back" stores and then searching on the web for ergonomic car seats. Oh, and for what it is worth, I spent all of last week driving my mother's $90,000 loaded S-class. I find the seats in my E91 every bit as comfortable.

I have the sport seats nearly perfect right now. lumbar is barely adequate imo, but I'm also used to the adjustable lumbar I had in my Acura which was very comfy, and gives a lot of lower back support. I could ride in that car for days and not get back pain. It didn't have the nice thigh support the bmw sport seats have though.
Not that I get any back pain now, but I do notice there is less lower back support than my acura had. |

So for those w/o ZPP. Is there a solution to lessen the blinding light from the rear view mirrors at night? (headlights from other cars). I cant think of any solutions other than a tint which I dont want to do. any thoughts?
