JB3 v1.22 Review and BMS DCI
Hey everybody! I'm relatively new to posting on this forum, but I have been researching for months on E90Post to decide on which tune was the most suitable for my E90 335i (completely stock other than the JB3 and DCI). Ultimately, it came down to the JB3's awesome affordability and powerful dyno proven gains that convinced me to strike a deal. I would first like to thank Mike from N54tuning for his incredible holiday special and Terry from BMS for his prompt responses to all of my inquiries. It definitely made my purchasing decision that much easier. A+ for customer service.
I decided to install my newly received JB3 v1.22 PnP and BMS DCI today. I have no prior mechanical experience, but the installation process went relatively smoothly with the exception of a few hiccups here and there. When I finished making all the necessary connections in the ECU, I reconnected the battery and started up the engine. Thankfully, no codes were thrown. So I replaced everything, and decided to go on a spirited drive. Right of the bat, I chose to select Map 4. I have to say, the gas pedal map switcher works extremely well. It is both intuitive and convenient because being able to switch maps at the liberty of your feet is simply a cool function. The car drove incredibly well. It felt like an entirely new beast just cruising around town. Throttle response and torque delivery below 3500 RPM felt like it never did before as I had adrenaline rushes just accelerating from a standstill. The lagfix is just amazing. After just a few quick runs at WOT, my car felt even more powerful. I never thought it would be able to accelerate so quickly even with 3 people in the car! After I dropped my gf and her brother off, I decided to test Map 6 on my own. I must say, this map is extremely impressive. Power delivery is smooth on all RPMs. The low end power is very aggressive while the high end power does nothing but haul ass. I can now easily hear my twin turbos spooling. Map 6 is straight up NASTY, and I think it will be my new daily driver. I knew the 335i was quick, but now, with the JB3, it is just unbelievable. A true sleeper. Best of all, even with the JB3 v1.22, the car is still very drivable and makes good mileage. The BMS DCI are also a great addition to my car. They add a nice touch to the engine bay and definitely produce a clear pronounced whooshing sound. Great $100 mod. All in all, the JB3 was the best investment I made into my car. It has awesome gains and will make my everyday driving that much more enjoyable. I even had a satisfied grin on my face as I eased my foot on the accelerator. Thank you Terry for a great product! Welcome and good review. Enjoy your tune but power modification is addicting, don't blame the JB3 when you start shopping for FMICs, DPs and Oil Catch Cans.. lol
