ringing noise.... in e92
Whenever I unlock my car their is a weird constant high pitch ringing noise..... Also when I lock the car..... I tried to wait for a few minutes and see if it went away and it didn’t... it sounds exactly like when your ears ring..... But I think it stops after a few more minutes..... Because when I go to my car after it being parked for a while the noise is gone.... anybody else have that in their e92... i dont know if this makes a difference but mine is a 09

It's your car speaking to you -
Do you think the sound could be coming from outside, sometimes it's hard to tell where high pitch sounds come from (directionally)

Mine does this about half the time I turn on/off my car. I've heard various theories, that include fuel pump and I can't remember what else. The duration of the noise is unpredicatable, but on the order of a minute on average (when the car is turned off). Bizarre.
With all of the BMW gurus on this site, it astounds me that no one has a simple, concrete answer. I guess most of the cars do not do this? |

Perhaps someone is calling you on your cell phone...
But seriously, I think I know what you're describing. If you have CA (and perhaps even if you don't... I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I have it and it's all I know), the car emits a high-pitched tone when you get into it. I think it's "on" or in some state of readiness. It's not very loud, and it eventually stops. |
