Differences between 2020 and 2021 X3M Competition

Just wondering if anyone could list any significant differences between the 2020 and 2021 version of the X3M competition. Did the 2021 have any significant features / improvements / fixes over the 2020?

Perhaps you mean differences between 2020-2021 vs LCI 2022+ ?

The main difference I'm aware of is the LCI models having a completely different gauge cluster and updated iDrive version from the 2020, and I don't recall if that change happened for 2021 or was the LCI only. Mechanically I don't believe there were many real differences.

Personally, I didn't like the new gauge cluster style and that drove me to pick up a 2020 when I made my purchase.

I love the gauges of the 2020, but the 2021 has iDrive7. I think with ID7 you can get remote start, which is unavailable on the 2020s with ID6

The only difference I am aware of is iDrive went from 6 to 7 on the '21, also added remote start as lagunablue1 stated.
Otherwise pretty much identical.

The 2021 X3MC has different gauges and not the full Idrive 7. The remote start isn't available.

most 2020's can be tuned without having the dme unlocked

2022 got the m3/4 S58 with more torque as well.

21 got id7 lite
2022 got id7 full

As far as I can tell, the only difference is the Idrive 7. I I cannot do the remote software update like I could in my previous 2019 m153i with Idrive7.. so I can only assume that this is the first version of Idrive 7 still running on older hardware.

As far as I'm aware, only MY 2022+ support remote start. 21 is still ID 7 lite.

Thank you all! So far I’m seeing 2021 has different gauges and has ability for remote start. Also seeing that 2020 may be easier to tune (which I definitely will be doing).

Anything I’m missing?
