General UK based Forum

Is there a call for a UK based only forum header for things like General Discussions/ Members Classified and so on?

I am personally finding I am having to trawl through endless pages to find anything UK especially Classifieds.

Any chance or call for this?

This has been done before. And before that. It won't happen. Did you vote for Brexit by any chance?

(that was an attempt at humour - not dissing ;-)

BMW is such an internationally famous car brand and people from all over the world comment on these forums. It’s interesting to read peoples perspective from Europe, UK, Middle East, etc… I think it would be a shame if every country had their own forum and we couldn’t share ideas. Does sound like Brexit.

I just like seeing, reading and responding about BMW and do not really care where the source is from, I find it interesting what our friends across the Pond are doing, I have also picked up quite a few tips, so I am happy to leave things as they are (Sorry)

To me, it makes more sense for classifieds, but I also enjoy reading about the global variations.

Use a UK prefix for a new thread if it’s country specific, as in UK insurance prices, so it’s obvious to all and relatively easy to search.

Good point.

Given that UK/European versions tend to be more Diesel engine based and US versions petrol, I'd say yes. Certain aspects may be more specific to country ownership.

Also think there are too many 'basic' Qs being asked by owners, rather than researching the forum or Googling.

Should there be a knowledge base?

Agreed. There should be stickies or a master thread for these topics that come up in a new thread literally every day:
  • What wheels/tires will fit on my car?
  • What winter tires should I use?
  • What should I replace these RFT tires with?
  • How long is production on a new car order?
  • Why is my new car order taking so long?
  • How much $$ can I get off MSRP?
  • Why is xxx missing from the new car order screen?
  • 30i vs 40i vs M differences/suspension comfort?
  • Is the 30i/40i/M trim level worth it over another lower trim level?

I agree that classifieds should have tagging by country, or something like that, and the regular forum should stay combined. I love that the G01 knowledge base is global.

May I add that in Finland and some other European countries the 30e (besides diesel if you regularly drive long trips) is the only version which makes sense, except if you have unlimited amount of money available. Choosing 30e instead of 30i saves over 15 000 € because difference in taxes (even if without taxes 30e is slightly more expensive than 30i).

If you want to buy M40i in Finland, the final price after taxes is 105 000 € without ANY options, whereas for 30i it's slightly below 80 000 and for 30e just below 65000.

Holy Helsinki! Those prices are crazy. I have a brand new fully optioned 30i being built for under $60k.

ufff Finland … default 40i in Spain 82K€ with one or two packets ~90K€… I thought we was the worst in car taxes!

I love how is this forum and the way it works just like it does. Tons of info, coding, mods Q&A, community… We are BMW. IMO there is no sense to split by countries.

Holy molly! Glad I moved away from Finland,
I could never have driven an M40i there as I do now.

Just for reference guys, in Finland you could buy a small house in the countryside or an apartment in a small town for 120,000euros, hence 105,000euros for the m40i means the government would rather not see you own one.

Don´t place your bets too high... A while back there was a poll about moving the iX3 forum to the i3/i4/i8/iX section. Results were, that most people thought that would make perfect sense. Since then nothing has happened. Tried PM´ing a few admins - no response
