I had the same problem, I had to re-seat the nozzle like 3 times, never happened again.

I had this issue on my old E90 330i. It may be a bad baffle between the two halves of the tank. Dealer replaced my tank to resolve.

I have 2 gas stations close to me that are on my route to and from work (across the street from each other) each time I try to pump at those station the nozzle keeps on clicking and stops. I have to squeeze it lightly to the point where it trickles out for it to work. I'm not a fan of standing in cold for 20 mins for the tank to fill up.

Any other stations that I have been to have been fine.

I have had this happen too. Happened just once at a gas station I usually don't visit. Haven't had it happen again.

This happened in NJ and the attendant turned the pump handle upside down. Worked just fine until he splashed gas on the rear window.

This issue has constantly happened with me on this car. Sometimes it would stop even though I know it's not full.

Had this problem as well. Brought it to the dealer and it was some type of faulty valve in the gas tank itself. Pretty common issue I was told. BMW replaced my gas tank. Car had about 900 miles on it.

Happened to me too (and on my old 04 350z), taking the pump out and putting it back in different ways usually fixes it.

To stray bit off topic, how bad is it for the paint if a few drops of gas get on it? I usually try and wipe it off but I always wonder how much damage it did just being on there for a few seconds.

It's the pump, not the car.

Yeah, it works fine for me at other pumps. Has to be certain pumps.

I've only experienced the fault with those vacuu-seal nozzles or whatever they're called.

+1, I've had this happen many times at pumps in the US. Never happened to me here with the car in Europe.

When the tank is near empty, does it fill up at a normal rate at all? Or do you have to trickle it in the whole time? If it fills normally to a specific point (like a half tank) and then shuts off the nozzle, it is probably the baffle. A new tank is in order.

Gas will eat the paint, much like eggs.

My girl had this happen on her 08 M3. Was a pain in the butt. The dealer ended up replacing the tank and all sending units.

No damage. You're fine if you wipe it off.
