Somewhat Rant(y) Post
I've had my 2020 X4M Comp since July and have put some quality miles on it. I was looking for a sporty winter car for my Minnesota home and anyone who knows Minnesota know winter is an 8 month season..... This Tanzanite beauty really seemed to fit the bill; with low miles, new summer and winter tires and that the original owner had pre paid service + 2, I took the risk.....
Here are some of my observations: This car attracts attention more so than any of the cars Ive had, these include turbo Porsches, M5's, an F06 650 and some beautiful Mercedes. I can hardly leave my house without young men trying to race me on the street or approaching me at a store or gas station. It is a polarizing car. It is stupid fast and handles extremely well, the S58 pulls like a freight train, the ride is really not that harsh. My last winter car was an xdrive F06 650, that car had a much harsher ride especially over the Minnesota Winter potholes. There are some weird quirks.... Half the time I have to lick my finger before I touch the touch surface on my door handles to get them to lock. The road noise in this car is atrocious.... I feel all the problems I had with the Harmon Kardon system were related to cabin sound. I spent a little over $1k to get it almost as quiet as my other cars. The HVAC is a pain! One fan setting for the passenger and the driver to share is crap. The M Brakes are SO obnoxiously squeaky it is embarrassing. In the summer when pulling up to the Starbucks drive through I get the, "oh I wonder how much brakes are in that thing" constantly from the barista at the drive through. I complained and then I complained some more, got them replaced and same noise. I try the spirited braking.... Fake news! I've got carbon ceramic brakes on my P car, quiet as a Honda Accord..... This car is better in deep snow that any car I've driven. It is so well balanced and the power is so linear it is confidence inspiring. For any of you that wonder if this platform is good in cold weather and snow, I drive it regularly in 15 below zero F with 4 sets of skis on the rack with complete confidence. This may not have the clearance our Range Rover has, but it is so much more fun in the snow. Cheers! |

Travel to MN often, and yeah your winters are off the hook.
I am sorry to hear you are lovin' your 202X4MC so much, I have the same "problems" Quote:

Just wanted to add an update to apart of my Rant from the beginning of the year.
BMW did end up replacing my brakes/rotors through BMW Ultimate Care +, and I've now put a little over a thousand miles on them. I'm extremely pleased to say that they do not squeak, squeal or make any of the obnoxious noises that my brakes always had before. Thank goodness! |

Glad to hear that BMW replaced brakes and rotors. The squealing brake noises you described are not normal.
One forum member sometime ago replaced front brakes on his X4M with aftermarket Brembo brakes. Cannot recall the handle. Used X4MC is on my shopping list but I want a unicorn with San Marino Blue exterior. The search continues. |
