Screen washer problem
Hi
I just bought a 2005 55 "new shape" model 3 Series Touring and I have a problem with the washer jets. It was a really cold morning so initially it was assumed that the problem was because it was iced up. However, it's been a relatively warm day and they still don't work properly. When I pull on the stalk I can hear the washer motor working and I get a very small splash on the screen but then nothing more. The motor continues to make a noise but no water is produced. The rear one works perfectly. Any ideas? Possibly blocked or a hose come loose? Any help would be much appreciated. James |

Just like your door handle problem, I had this same washer fluid problem last year too. It froze up twice and I had to bring it to the dealer to have it taken care of once. I think the previous owner just put in some crappy warm weather fluid.

Dealer fixed it free of charge because it was under warranty. But they basiclaly said they just let it sit inside to thaw out, then removed all the old fluid and replaced with new.

There's also a windshield fluid antifreeze that you can buy at the dealer. You mix it with distilled water and there's detergents in there as well. Mix ratio is dependent on climate and region (EPA laws) but you can mix it to whatever ratio you want.
Might also have them check your nozzles or if you have heated nozzles, something might be broken |

Yup part of the CW package I'd like to say. The nozzles themselves aren't heated I think. It's just the fluid. I don't have it or need it so I'm not sure 100%

£175 for BMW to replace the motor and filters! The garage I bought the car from agreed to pay for it..
The guy at the dealership said that he sees this a lot but once replaced he has never had anyone come back. Let's hope that's it! Thanks for the help! |
