H&R or MSS

Debating on H&R or MSS to lower it. I hate the wheel gap but not sure what route to go with.

I went with DINAN since they could actually discuss the increase in stiffness & provided the same drop on all 4 corners. Giving the X3M the exact same front to rear rake as factory. When I called H&R to ask for more details & specifics they were tight lipped about discussing their secrete sauce. They couldn't comment or reveal any of those increase in stiffness facts. I also believe DINAN are actually Eibach units that have been rebranded with the classic blue DINAN color.

I personally prefer MSS since you can adjust the rake same as stock or even it out.
MSS spring is also made by Eibach. Eibach and H&R make spring for many lowering spring brand and even factory springs.

+1 for MSS and r33_RGSport Too bad you are on the other coast. I had my X4MC done recently by Ben and very happy with the looks. Even with lowering, there is a slight improvement in the ride quality. Nothing major - it still very much feels like a proper M car, but certain undulations in the road are now handled better IMHO.

Anyone who is local to SoCal area, it is worth it to to pay a visit to r33_RGSport (Ben); fair pricing and quick service. He definitely knows what he is doing.

I decided to go with MSS thanks to r33_RGSport on this review for the MSS vs H&R on a previous tread.

Thank you guys for your input on lowering the car. I am getting quoted the lowest $650 for install only and $900 with the wheel alignment included. does that seem right?

Hi, I have seen a post that you mentioned you installed these on a user car. Have you done it for an X4MC. Curious as to how much work is involved. I have a 2023 and asked for a quote from a local tuner shop and they quoting me $3297.34

I would have definitely be jumping on these if labor to install wasn't that much.

$3297?? That’s completely ridiculous and their way of telling you they have no interest in doing the install.

Thanks, I knew that was high, didn't know it was that high. I will try and get a quote from the dealership. Hope it can be in that $1400 point or less

Feel free to visit my IG where I post most of the work that I've done.
I have done X4MC recently.

My labor rate for this platform is 3-4 hours.

I don't know how they calculate their rate, but that better includes more than just spring install.

I'm no expert, but several folks have mentioned that the springs need to settle first, THEN do a wheel alignment. The number 1000K miles was mentioned.

I believe that's only with coilovers, but could be wrong.
