Probably a stupid question - Engine Temp info?

I see many people talking about what their engine temp is..

On my 330i Ive yet to find ANYTHING that displays the engine temp. Let alone oil temp, etc.

The only thing Ive found, is the oil level display. No oil pressure or any temperature info.

Am I missing something?

It replaced the mpg gage on turbo models (and some others starting with 2007 MY).

You can lookup up the coolant info I believe using the hidden functions but it's not meant to be used as you're driving. As far as oil and pressure I don't believe you can. The pressure sensor is a switch and will trigger the light at about 6-7PSI, so you will have to seek an aftermarket solution.

right - once the warranty runs out I may get the gauge pod for the ashtray or something.

As someone who moantains and works on engines on compressor and gensets, (think engines measured in KW, and lots of them) I rely on gauges to catch problems before they arise.

It bothers me there is no temp or oil pressure. These are essentials.

Though I think (not sure) it's only on the 335i.

In the same list of missing things, it would be nice also to see the inside temp on the AC, not just the temp you set it to.

I saw mentioned somewhere recently the DashDyno, which connects via the ODBII port. I can't see how that would impact the warranty?

I believe it was discussed before that the engine swings rapidly temp wise and that it would cause a lot of undue panic with most drivers out there who are very uninformed when it comes to cars or basic mechanics.

My mother in law had a flat recently and she kept driving on it. When she called me and I told her to put air in it, she called me later saying she was at the gas station with the air "thingy" and didn't know where to put it and what pressure to put it at.

She ended up bleeding all the air out of the tire because she didn't know that you had to turn on the air first! hahahaha
