$875 + tax for a HAS Kit + Spacer Install??
I hit up Autocouture Motoring for a KW HAS kit with front and rear spacer install, they quoted me $875 + tax, which feels very steep, or is it just me? Anyone have any other shop recommendations? I'm in Upstate NY so somewhere in this vicinity, even NJ is okay.

Just the install, and doesn't include an alignment.

Install the spacers yourself and save some money. I installed mine 2 weeks ago. Took me 30 minutes for all 4.

Seems high. If you want to travel call Steve at Lux Restyling in South Amboy NJ. He does all the work on my G82 and my brother G83. He did my H&R springs and my brother H&R HAS on his G83. He's the best around.

Same quote they gave me. I’m gonna go through with it. Keep in mind they also trim the front fender liners so you don’t get rub which is nice.

A lot has changed in the past decade. I understand the cost of installation can be a tough pill to swallow. There are plenty of competing shops that may be cheaper but those shops are much different than ours. We are happy & proud to service every car that passes through the doors here. You can always rely on us during and after the service has been completed to be there if you need it.

I tried to get my lowering springs installed at Lux. He gave me a date, and then never followed up. I called Autocouture and they didn't f around. Dropped off Sunday, picked up Monday, no run around. I really appreciate that. Plus they have a great rep with BMW's. I thought my price was fair, honestly I'll pay extra for competent service.

I am getting my g82 H&R Springs and spacers done there also. I have a appointment on 4/13 to put my carbon fiber parts, then after 1200 miles my springs and spacers.

Appreciate all the recco's, love this community! I'm going to try out a couple of the suggestions I got from this thread and folks who PM'ed on other parts I have inbound but for this initial suspension and spacer install, I am just going to go with ACM.
As someone who works in advertising and provides creative services for brands, I can appreciate ACM in upholding the value of their labor as I too understand the rationale and justification for higher labor rates. In the end, I am paying for peace of mind that the service will probably be better than some other shops that I've gone to in NYC and in knowing that ACM does quality work and have a ton of experience working on the G8X platforms. I already had an issue with a simple lowering springs install on my G20 that was a pain to deal with so paying more for sound work and peace of mind is worth it in the end. Thanks gents.

FYI, the cheaper the install, the more expensive the repair once you realize your control arms are as clapped as the guy who did the labor and doesn’t know about pre-tension.
Already had a few examples of such incompetence displayed by NYC shops on the G8x platform…. “Mechanic” used a chizzle for half the install and removal of a HAS kit 😂 Refitting the wires & brake lines? Free spaghetti, with a side of torn control arm bushings. |
