WTF
Exactly as I hit 24,000 miles, I pull into the gas station to get some windshield washer fluid and when it comes time to close my hood, the driver side hood latch would not close. It has always had issues and wouldn't close on the first try but today it wouldn't close at all. I had to drive 25 miles with only one hood latch and it really sucked. I know they're gonna fix it at the dealership and everything, but WHAT THE FUCK! It's so annoying to go to the dealership!

I might have had the same problem as you. My passenger side didn't latch. I found out by trial and error that it was actually really slow to latch. Try holding it down for a second or two.
When I went to the dealer, I think they just greased the latch. Works fine now. |

I noticed that also. One side worked fine but the driver side would not spring back. I tried pulling it out with needle nose plyers and it still would not latch properly. I hope I didn't bend my hood on the drive home.

I had the same problem but it was trying to open the hood about a few months ago.
Needed to add more washer fluid and to check for obivious stuff during downtime at work...went out and pulled on the hood release. Nothing happened. Still feels the cable is connected and I hear latches noise when pulling on it. Went to the front of the car and pulled up on the hood, it didn't budge. Went back into the car and pulled on the hood release again and went to the front and pulled on it twice and it opened up. Looked at the latches and they appear to be dry and hard to move the locking cams...went into the office and pulled out 2 aircraft lubes from the flame cabinet used part 1 to seep into the bushings and moving parts, part 2 to retain it there. Cycled the hood twice and it works beautiful. It seems like road salt, rain have dried out the lube or there was very little in it from assembly. If you look at it, there's 2 hood latches on each front corners and 1 interlock in the center front of the hood (the one with the yellow release tab on it). A redundancy design...should 1 or 2 of the 2 hood latches on the front fail, the interlock will catch the hood and prevent it from smacking it up into your windshield and block your vision should it happen. BTW you shouldn't drop the hood from more than 16" to close it
