Unthinkable
I did the unthinkable and ran my car out of gas. Now i have thrown the Service Engine Soon code! Does anyone know how to clear the code? Or how much it would cost to get it cleared. thanks

... I did that on the track... after filling with gas and a few restarts later the SES light did go away on its own.

Those gauges reach 0 with more than a gallon still in the tank. Its not uncommon for people to make it 50+ freeway miles after it has already hit 0.
Also Top Gear has shown this several times on newer cars such as their 1000+ mile 2 day, 1 tank journey in the Audi.

Based on my experience, my car seems to have approx 1 gallon left at "0" miles to empty.
I also have an '08 Tundra that has a 26 gallon tank. It shows "0" miles to empty and still has over 5 gallons left! Nearly a 20 percent reserve. The regulars on the Tundra forum rip anyone who complains about it. Rediculous, IMO. 1-2 gals. is plenty. |
