Putting the Power down
Hi, so I’ve had my 2019 m2 comp for a day, weather around my area has been showers n then dry etc, so moist
But I tried going out in the car n putting my foot down to see the speed of the thing, but it just slips n can’t get the power down. Now I no it’s not 4 wheel drive but didnt think it wud be this bad. Is this normal? Does weather have to be perfectly dry for its best? I put it in sport plus. Traction on,gear box in quickest, Now is there a better combo of settings to get the power down, I need some pointers |

Michelin cup 2s all round. But on the latest mot both front tyres r close to limit apparently, wud that effect it that much?
How wud I find out if tyres were up to temp? I’m kinda new to all this so any pointers be really helpful |

Yeah I think it’s related to the tyre, temp and tread. I’m 1 week into my m2 ownership so by no means an expert. Here is what’s I’ve picked up:
Cup 2s are a performance summer tyre and are the go to tyre for hard road driving and occasional track use. PS4S or Conti7 are the better all year tyre. You can go to iDrive > vehicle settings > tyre pressure and see the temps. If it’s not visible it can be coded. In the meantime, try and stay out of a ditch |

There are not many performance cars that you can get in and get perfect traction in 1st/2nd gear. Tyres play a big part, Cup 2s are a great tyre once warm but would still slip if you 100% throttle it it at certain times. |

I had a 2018 RS3, obvs being 4 wheel drive it stuck to the road great, then I had a a35 amg stage 1 tune, 2017 golf R, then a e46 m3, so this is first rear wheel drive I’ve had for some time,
Because the front wheels tyres come up on mot as being close to limit wud that effect thr grip as much because the power comes from the back? |

I think this is where your problem is. You use to having so much grip from the AWD cars you had. I don’t think the low fronts have much to do with it but worth replacing anyway. I think you just need to be abit more throttle friendly, get use to the car and it’s characteristics, I’ve had mine nearly two years and I’m still getting more confident in driving it fast, letting it move abit more. |

Your problem is Cup2's aren't for the road in the wet. Also with low front's although not effecting traction, you'd be best to get all 4 changed.
Don't go for Michelin Pilot Super Sports which were standard factory fitment for all M2C's as you'll find that you can get the rear to wobble in the wet even on new MPSS's say joining a motorway via the slip road and full acceleration at even 60 mph. They are even worse in the winter below 7 degree c. Go for MPS4's as the best around tyre. They are used on many much higher performance cars too. Got them on my M4C. (my son has the same car his came with Pirelli Pzero's on). |

Cup2s are proper sketchy in the cold or wet, they're really only for dry warm / summer use, or driving like a granny otherwise.
When I put mine on last autumn it was spinning in the damp at 90 odd in 4th, scary. My car goes away in the winter. If your using it all year then get some Pilot Super Sport or PS4S. |

anyone tried the P Zero pz4 ? reviews i have read so far make it a comparable tyre to the PS4s. I just cant seem to find stock of the fronts PS4s and the tyres are a bit hairy now.

Evo mag still rate the original PSS as a better tyre. No bmw star rated ps4s for m2c sizes AFAIK either. |

You cant just mash the throttle in higher torque RWD cars like AWD, you'll need to change your driving style a bit. I'm on PS4S for the road, and am Stage 1 comp, and you just have to smooth with the throttle. Try it in efficient too, its less fun but less spikey too.
