Hey folks! It’s a bit hard to describe my feelings today after picking up the vehicle. My first Bmw, with lots of Toyotas, Lexus, and an audi in my past. Started the journey interested in a M3 but coming from driving a Lexus, I didn’t realize how much I actually wanted something comfortable for the family and long trips. I think I had forgotten that I could do NC to TX trips back and forth in a Mitsubishi eclipse or a Scion FR-S as a 20-something out of college but not at this stage in my late thirties!! Haha. So this vehicle was a perfect combo of comfort, speed, handling and cross country travel.

Dealership experience could not have been any better. I had placed my order on feb 5th and ended up being the third allocation for the MY24. It arrived yesterday but I couldn’t pick it up until today.

Got the m60i with MBB, extended shadow, coffee merino with carbon fiber interior and could not be happier with the build. The only options that are missing are B&W cuz I’m not a audiophile and no captains chairs cuz 2 baby car seats fit better with the bench.

Initial impressions.
Exterior: looks being a very subjective thing, I actually really like the LCI. I think they did a great job of incorporating the design elements of the pre-lci m-package bumbers and incorporating them into the lower (main) headlights. I may not be doing a good job of explaining this but once you see it, you can’t unsee it. the design feels immediately less bulky at the top and more planted. I love the little details in the brake lights as well.

Interior: I think these are the same seats as the X5 (correct me if I’m wrong) and they are so comfortable! And I really appreciate the blue/red stitching on the steering wheel. I think that gives it a bit pop. The main screens are really bright and crisp. Haven’t used iD8 yet but I doubt it’ll be hard to grasp. In my very brief time, it’s seems pretty intuitive.

Excited to learn all the different functions and start doing some roads trips after the engine break-in. Which I think is 1,200 miles? Can someone confirm this?

If its extended merino leather, then why is the back of the seats are in black and not in upholstery color?

U need full merino to get the back of the seat padded

Correct. Extended only gives you leather dashboard I believe.

this must be a change for 2024, my 2023 with extended tartufo has the seatbacks in tartufo leather, not black sensatec

baz , is the back trim on the trunk that used to be chrome now complete black or like a shadow dark grey? I can still see some faded grey in your pics.

I think it’s chrome but under a glass strip.

I went with tartufo originally but it was too “bright/orange” for my taste. Saw a coffee interior in real life on a pre-lci and was sold.
Also, I love the carbon fiber/coffee combo over tartufo/carbon fiber.

Actually, not. I've checked several available MY24 X7 with ext merino at cars.com and all of them, unlike topic starter's, has the seatbacks in tartufo color

My SA claims you need the executive package coupled with extended/full merino to get the color matched seat back. I haven't been able to confirm.

at least last year that wasn't the case. i have premium + extended merino tartufo and my seatbacks are leather.

i'm going to guess this is an unannounced cost cut.

I was mainly referring to the stitched pattern on the backseat pockets, I think to have that appearance u need full leather option

Seems like a cost cut. Full got the diamond cut leather on the seat back.

Congrats, But I really don't understand why you do not have b&w. Saving 3400 on a 100000+ car...

I believe they stated that they aren't an audiophile. That could mean that they only listen to talk radio, sports radio, audio books, pod casts, etc... or maybe they don't like listening to music loudly. Lots of reasons NOT to blow $3,400 on an option you either won't use or appreciate, whether it's on a $25K car or a $150K car.

next year you'll only get power windows on all doors with the full power window package. the extended power window package will have it only on the front, cranks in the rear
