Which intake?
I'm looking towards getting an intake.
Which one would be the most efficient? 1. BMS Dual Cone The only problem with the BMS Dual cone is that wouldn't it get heat stroke from nothing blocking the hot air? 2. AFE Dual Cone The AFE looks like a great intake but I dont see how the intake behind the first one gets enough air. 3. Riss Racing The Riss Racing intake looks very good but I havent heard any reviews yet. 4. InJens Dual Cone Haven't heard anything yet. Please let me know which one I should get. Thanks! -Kyle Last edited by KBMW69; 01-19-2009 at 09:41 PM.. |

I believe a lot of testing has been done by various people to show that on a turbo car the heat soak is not really an issue, which is probably why the Dual Cone Intake seems to be the intake of choice for most. The price point doesn't hurt either

bms for the value, sound, and performance (i would say bout the same as most). i actually like the looks of it better than most even w/o a heat shield. AFE, and most others, still sucking in hot air anyways..

Kyle,
I have had experience with the Riss and aFe and find them to be among the best available. Both are fantastic setups, the aFe is a bit cleaner when installed but produces the same gains overall. |

My vote goes for the aFe. Have it since summer and I can't say a bad word about it. Looks good, you can't really hear it too much but it does its job.

Contrary to what people have been saying, heat soak can cause a problem especially if you live in hot climates. Ive seen IATs up to 180 F while drag racing. If you dont think thatll cause timing to be pulled and/or boost to be dropped then you are crazy. I have the BMS DCI, but I'm very skeptical of its gains over stock at the dragstrip. I highly doubt the AFE heat shield justifies the difference in price. Not sure about the other two, but they are rather expensive. I would just go with the BMS as it is cheap so if you don't like it you aren't losing much. I do like the way it makes the car sound.

umm, well, you do realize the hotter the air going into the intercooler, the hotter the air coming out? Also, intercoolers become heatsoaked too you know?

It's the intercooler that gets heat soaked.
