v3.2 beta at the drag strip
Got an email from a customer today. He is on this forum but wishes to remain anon for personal reasons. Personally, I think he's in the CIA. He tested a v3.2 beta 1-15 map (stage 1 6MT non-doomsday) this past weekend at a dragstrip in Georgia.
He ran the basic pump gap map at default torque settings (90%) on race gas. DA was very favorable (-1000'). He has a 6MT with the ONLY mods being: PROcede Rev.1 Helene drop-in filter Time slips below. His car is #22. But on one run it was listed as #20 by accident. Weather conditions willing, he'll be testing a race gas version of the map this weekend. Hopefully the DA will be similarly favorable. Cheers, shiv PS. The new round of beta map that I'll be emailing out tomorrow will have a race gas version of the map as Map2. So everyone can have a try. |

Wow, great trap speeds. I think I know who this is from previous comments. What tires was this done on? Also, what octane level was he/she running?

Those are some serious hot trap speeds for nothing but a tune and a drop-in. Just to be sure, let's validate:
1. Were the seats installed? 2. Was he/she using DRs? 3. Did he spray the intercooler? 4. Was he using NOS or a Meth Kit? 5. Was it an AT using the 6MT map or a 6MT? 6. Was he listening to Yanni's Greatest Hits on the radio while doing pulls? You pre-posting for Scalbert and his testing?? Or this really a customer that for some reason is reticent to self-post? Props either way. |

Good trap for a tune only car. Hats off to the driver, that's impressive driving to get those numbers from a tune only 6mt!

No No No 6MT Perhaps These results are not from scalbert. They are from a poster who would rather be anon when it comes to tunes. Given the hostility/partisianship on this forum, I can't say I blame him Shiv |

Great ETs and Trap Speeds for just v3.2 and a drop-in filter!!!!!! FWIW, it was very cold this past weekend in GA...in the 30's and 40's during the day and 10's and 20's at night.

This track is closer to Jacksonville than Atlanta.

Very nice traps (and not so bad ET's too considering 6MT and cold conditions on street tires).
Great to see that once again basically tune only 335i's are in the 114-115 range trap speeds. I gotta make some time to hit the drag strip again and do some runs on pump gas. Nobody does runs on pump gas on these forums anymore. It's a bummer since 99% of the time these guys posting these race gas times run pump gas when not at the strip. As I've suspected for quite some time, tune only 335i will trap in the 112-114 range on pump gas with the current crop of top tunes. You said he was on race gas, what octane? |

I think 112 on pump gas will be the limit, maybe even a stretch.

Really?
I thought some have already gotten 113-114 on pump. I'd have to look at drag times again. And I've run a couple different cars on private roads that trap in the 113-115 range (E63 AMG for one) and on pump gas on JB3 I ran right with it (well I was behind him and we made several goes but I stayed the same distance behind him from 40-120). I also ran a different E63 AMG and stayed with that guy from 60-120ish too. Then on PROcede v2 on pump I ran an Audi R8 twice. We ran up to about 115 on one run and 0-90 on another. On the run up to 115 I had him by 1.5-2 CL's and was crawling away. Those cars supposedly trap in the 111-112 range themselves. I pretty much always run 91 pump (occasionally throw in a gallon or so of 100 Octane to make 91.5-92 Octane) but that's not really anything anyway (maybe 2-3 rwhp more). So I'd think under sea level or better DA's a tune only 335i on pump could trap 112-113 without issue (and possibly get close to 114 on 93 pump). |
