Hi everyone. I’m currently running NBTevo_E15413A which I believe is iDrive 4. I purchased and OEM wireless antenna and wanted to ask what service is the best and most reliable to get my HU updated to iDrive 5 or iDrive 6 and add CarPlay?

Hi guys. I tried getting this done with kubax86 who is a great guy and super knowledgeable with this stuff but we couldn't get it done because my HU wont ping with IP 169.254.199.99. I removed the HU and looked over all of the cables and everything seems in tact. The HU was never removed or upgraded/flashed and is OEM other than me installing the antenna which was very simple to do. Anyone run into this issue before?

I could be mistaken and certainly kubax86 would know more, but after a certain firmware/istep level, isn’t coding to the HU needed via the OABR Port Ethernet connection instead of the ODBI?

Interesting. Even more interesting is that we got it to work. I blew my Windows 11 laptop image away and rebuilt it with Windows 10. Disconnected car battery for an hour and retried and HU started pinging. Not sure what did it, but there you go lol.

I have to communicate this though, kubax86 was phenomenal. Initially I was frustrated with the whole process and also reached out to steve@codemybimmer for advice. I didn’t name kubax86 dut I did communicate to Steve that he may “not know what he’s doing”. This was entirely out of frustration and I apologize for that. I can admit when I am wrong and I was totally wrong. Anyone looking to get this process done can be assured that he will do everything in his power to get the job done. Thank you again to kubax86 for your patience and professionalism.

No worries.

Sounds like the gateway just needed a reset or the contacts on the OABR port were dusty. It does happen from time to time.
