The software version in my X7 is designated 2023.37. I noticed that what appear to be newer software versions such as 2023.50 are available for earlier year X7s. Is that because the 2024 hardware is different and would not, as an example be compatible with 2023.50? Will the next 2024 X7 update be designated 2024.XX? I may be looking at this wrong but I was just trying to understand BMW Revision protocol. Thanks for any inputs on that.

typically bmw releases three times a year, for example, the 2023 releases for all cars will be:
03/2023.x
07/2023.x
11/2023.x

typically the actual OTA roll out lags abit. i got 11/2022.x in February. 03/2023.45 came down late april or early may. the dealer will get them as they are released but will only do an upgrade if its warranted to fix a problem since they wont get reimbursed otherwise. so you cant just go in and ask for the latest software upgrade.

you probably have 03/2023.37
thats likely the current release for the 2024, my 2023 got 03/2023.45 as an OTA.
likely you will get 07/2023.x around september or so, unless they just skip and roll out 8.5. the version number will likely be 07/2023.x still

idrive 7 and 8 have different minor versions. current i beleive for ID7 is 03/2023.50 and ID8 is 03/2023.45
