New M3 on order

hey everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Richie from lower Westchester NY. I've had about 5 BMWs. All 3 series. Finally at 40 years old, getting an M3 which I've wanted since the E46 M3s back in early 2000s were out. I've had M sports, and my current car is a 2021 M340 X drive. I have a non-competition 6mt on order. Isle of Man green. Approx delivery date October. I see the Comps are alot more frequent and sort after than the 6mt. Anyone have the 6mt? If so, how do you like it?

Love my Brooklyn grey 6MT. Just a blast to drive and probably the last manual we'll be able to purchase. Enjoy yours!

I picked up my IOMG M3 6MT in the beginning of June and love it so far. The color gets a lot of attention.

The G80 is slated to run a bit longer production time than previous gens because of the shift to EV/hybrid powertrains. According to ynguldyn, the G2X/G8X is to be in production until the middle of 2027, meaning you could lease now and then get the final years' production M3 assuming a standard 36 month lease. It is extremely unlikely that they'll remove the 6MT option for the LCI version that's coming next year, so I wouldn't fret about that.

I love my Dakar Yellow G80, but depending on the LCI/how BMW go about updating iDrive, I may sell it and order another 6MT G80 that's MY2027 we'll see.

But congrats and enjoy her! I advertise this every time I see a 6MT popping up around the tri-state area: if you'd like to experience the Rogue Engineering SSK/Rogue Engineering rear carrier bushing mount, then feel free to reach out to me to get some seat time in my car. I have several other mods too if you're curious about them

Enjoy her when she comes!

My experience has been limited to Japanese imports and so I am curious as well--how does the M3 6MT drive/handle. Given the demand and low supply, I don't think I'll have the chance to test drive one before making a purchase...not sure yet if I feel comfortable making that decision. For me, I still would like to see the car in-person to also get a sense of the interior, seating, fit and finish, etc.

I test drove a M340i, but wonder if that would be enough to give me a sense of what to expect from the M3.
I had the same concerns about buying a car without driving it so I just found a used on on a nearby dealers lot so I could make sure I would be happy with how it drives. I found a 6MT one too so I got to see how that felt and was happy that it feels very similar to the other BMW manuals I have driven. It’s not the best feeling compared to some other cars, but it works great and I never feel like I could miss a shift.
Now that I have had my car for a couple of months and had the break in service I am even more happy with the purchase. The car has so much torque that you can push the gas in any gear and move. The only negative is that the car has so much power that it really doesn’t take much time to get up to speeds that are guaranteed to get you a ticket. I haven’t done much backroad driving, but you can push it hard around on ramps and the car just sticks.

Hi all! Just adding to this thread - new Tanzanite blue M3 6MT on order, allocation came in last week - scheduled for production in Sept.

Trading in a 2021 M340i, while a great car, the main purpose was getting back to manual before its too late and of course everything that comes with a true M. Can't. Wait.

Looking for winter tire/wheel setup if there any recommendations. (outside from what I found via search)

Richie, nice to "meet you". I had to laugh because our stories sound so similar. I had an E46 as my desktop background in college for motivation to graduate, get a job, and immediately buy an M3. Of course the realities of student loans, mortgages, a wedding, and kids has postponed that plan. Here I am now at 41 with a order for an M3 finally. and am so excited. I'm between IoMG and an individual color, but I'm supposedly next on the list for an allocation so I better decide quick. Best of luck with your car and post some pics when you get it!

Hey Richie, welcome!

I was in Brooklyn but now over the border from you in Connecticut.

Congrats on the pending purchase.

Some people think the manual in this car is not the best of manuals, but I think you made the right choice either way, if you want a manual. The car is so freaking fast, I think driving a 6MT has to make the drive more interesting and enjoyable at more reasonable speeds, because you can’t really test the limits on the road without getting in trouble in this car. Ask me how I know!

I have a comp, RWD. I had no
issues running the car in winter really, I ran winter tires for one season, didn’t bother swapping wheels last year but if the weather is bad I just takes the wife’s SUV
