The debate isn't over whether it is coming or not. The questions are: 1) will it come as a '07 or '08 model, and 2) if it's supposed to be a complement to or a substitute for the 330i. Is the coming 328i going to replace both the current 325i and the 330i, or just the 325i? Without any confirmation about a 1 series sedan, I think replacing both would push the entry price of a BMW sedan that is out of reach of too many people IMO.

1. The 328i will replace the 325i. Very minimal price increase. 2. The 335i will replace the 330i with minimal price increase. Now will they be sold as 2007 or 2008 MY honestly won't make much of a difference. |

The DI engine 330i will still be badged 330i and keeps the normal exhaust pipes.

I can see the 328i being just a small increase over 325i, since I believe its the same basic engine.

I want to agree that the 330i will be kept in the US but does it make much business sense to have a 328i making 230 HP and a 330i making only 25 more HP? The 328i coupe has a reported 0-60 of 6.2 so I suspect that the performance gap will be small. Maybe the 330i will keep the same extra goodies it gets over the 325i now, like the adapative xenons, power seat, more chrome, bigger rotors, etc., but it gets harder and harder to justify the price difference b/w the two cars.
The 335i coupe already has an estimated base price of $41-42K, a good $5-6K more than the current 330i sedan, so saying the new 335i sedan will have almost the same price as the 330i I think is wishful thinking. |

1. Competition 2. North American market is a huge one in BMW global porfolio, and the 3 series makes a big percentage of the total North American sales. |
