idrive 8.5 in December?

My SA is telling me that the 8.5 upgrade can't happen until december.

any thoughts here?

Ignore them, he is just saying that because BMW isn't paying them to the updates. The software has been in dealer's hands for a few weeks so not sure why they just didn't use 8.5 when they updated your software. I guess he could just be that clueless as to the release of the software.

Apparently I got it installed yesterday as part of my break-in service, but somehow I am not getting the full experience as we all saw in the demo. See my thread on that: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...2#post30346252

I just wish mods could merge the 28364 threads on iDrive 8.5 into the main one that is called “iDrive 8.5”

Im going in for some service tomorrow and when they checked the vin, it showed up as needing iDrive 8.5, didn't even have to ask em.

All LCI vehicles have the code for the 8.5 update. That does not mean that they are supposed to be updated by the dealer but rather that if it should need to be updated for a repair reason the dealer is being told to make sure they tell the customer they are being updated to 8.5. They are told that BMWNA will not pay the dealer to do the update unless it is part of a warranty repair and that the dealer should tell the customer that they will get the update via OTA which is currently scheduled to start in September. That said, some dealers will perform the update out of customer goodwill.

Lol they are way behind if they are using a March version. If they would take the time to download it they would have it. Probably best to just wait for the OTA as it will probably come sooner than them being ready.

Maybe they will surprise you and download it sooner and let you now. My guess is by March version they are talking major version and have been downloading the minor versions that have come out since, at least I hope that is the case.
