1 series insanity?

So for the past week my brain has been playing tricks on me. I swear I keep seeing a 1 series driving around the Chicago area!

LOL

Is it March yet?

This morning on the way into work I was counting how many month till March: August, Sept., Oct., Nov., Dec., Jan., Feb., and March. Eight full month.

Every morning the first thing I check on the web is if there are more new spy pics or news on 1addicts!

so assuming they start producing these cars the last week of March, how long till we - those of us with deposits - take possession? i'm guessing it takes about a month to get the cars after they are made? :iono:

Typically it takes 6-8 weeks from start of production to delivery.

you think production in march? i think earlier.

some one on here said there 3-Series was made in mid 2005. and we all know it did not release till after that. I think the 1-series will be produced at the beginning of 2008.

If you put a deposit down and have a vested interest and have been waiting 7-8 mos. like ourselves, we should see them in early apri. my $.02.

yeh like TDC said

They should be available in March '08, so production will start sooner.

The demos will be the first to arrive at US BMW Centers near the end of March. Centers probably will not be able to spec 1-Series coupes until April allocation is received = Feb. 2008. Best case scenario if the car is built the first week of April and is a priority 1 unit (sold) it should arrive a month after completing production. This applies for the East coast only.

E90 Production began in Feb. 2005. US Centers received demos at the end of April / 1st of May 2005. The official US launch was May 14, 2005.

1-Series Coupe production begins Sept. 2007

hmmm it just dawned on me that i'm going to have to order this car before i even test drive it. i hadn't realized the demo models would be arriving so late - well late for me at least. not sure that i'm liking the idea of ordering this thing without seeing it IRL first. sigh. decisions decisions.

These are the things i think about instead of seeing phantom 1ers driving around. sigh.

I went through the same thing when I ordered my '01 E46 330Ci. It turned out to be a mistake as BMW had added DBW (drive-by wire) and lightened the steering feel (numb Buick steering). I was SOL as I had traded my previous E46 two months prior.

The inability to test drive the car is the final hurdle for me, I really want a little seat time (less than 10 miles) before I commit. That being said if the press proclaims this car to be the 'second coming' and 'woe be to those who wait', I might have to do something I don't like to do, namely hand some of my money over to someone else to hold a car.

There are a number of journalists whose opinions I trust and I think I've driven enough cars to be able to go back and cross reference earlier material to see if our outlooks align. I've purchased one car in my life w/o having driven it, based on an article in a buff book, and it was a '91 Sentra SE-R.

I am fairly certain that all the US 135i demos will be Sedona Red. BMW will build 37X 128i & 135i demos with the same specs and colors.
