Very Long Start Crank in ‘09 328i xDrive Automatic

My 2009 e90 328i xDrive has an extra long startup crank when the engine is cold. I had just gotten the cars battery, starter, and alternator checked at an O’reillys and the results came back positive that none of the three were bad. What could the issue possibly be? The video linked is after the car sat for only about an hour!

Have someone test the fuel pressure with a a proper fuel pressure gauge. It should be 70 psi and it should hold that for about 15mins when the engine is switched off.

As stated above, you probably have lost fuel pressure overnight. Could be a leaky fuel injector, leaky fuel pressure regulator, and leaky drain back valve (if we have one).

I rented a fuel pump gauge from O’reillys… hooked it up and fuel started spraying everywhere but gauge was rising. Shut it off immediately and gauge dropped…

Fuel should not spray everywhere. The gauge must be faulty or fitted incorrectly.

Y’all think it could be my ground wire? Here’s a look at the one in my car.

Ok I’ll be testing it over the weekend with a different gauge… do you think it potentially could be the ground wire though? Mine looks pretty corroded.

Saw a guy talking about a similar problem as mine and replaced groundwire which was as corroded as mine… does yours work properly and have similar color? It’s left of the engine and a little down by the windshield washer fluid.

That’s not the ground for your starter. That’s the interference suppression band. You can easily eliminate a grounding problem by jumping the ground stub in the bay to the block and attempting a start. If it starts right up, you probably have a grounding problem.

You can also check it with a multimeter, but that doesn’t guarantee that you won’t have a current drop because of a missing starter ground.

I started mine up and it had correct fuel pressure of 70 psi but dropped after I turned the vehicle off?

Had car running for only about a minute though.

I tested fuel pressure and it showed 70 psi on a cold start this morning at about 60 degrees. The pressure dropped to 0 within a minute of shutting the vehicle off though not sure if that means anything.
