Did a lil math with the Autoblog numbers 36K for a 135i??
I hope this makes sense.....not to good at math so feel free to fix any mistakes I made.
Base 135i £29,745 29,745.00 GBP = 60,197.93 USD Base 335i £31,550 31,550.00 GBP = 63,851.01 USD as of 9sep07 Base 335i US price 38,900 335i money ratio 38,900 / 63,851= .6092 135I us price adjustment 60,197.93 * .6092 = 36,672.01 base 135I US price 36,672 I think this creates a dilemma for BMW, if I did the math right. Side note: BTW with the whole housing debacle, if the fed lowers the overnight interest rate soon then the dollar will tank even more against foreign currencies |

It's good math...I see what you did, but it doesn't work even tho the ecquation makes sense in a logical way.
But this isn't logic: it's marketing and marketplace. I'll stick with high 34k. |

I may be wrong, but I think your quoted figures for brit pricing includes 17.5% VAT taxes so you can deduct that from the base numbers that you use... Using your method the number for the 135 base would be closer to $33k I think.

Haha, this is definitely one way to stay busy until we have real info: Redoing the math with this in mind (which doesn't take into account US import BS) Base 135i £29,745 29,745.00 GBP = 60,197.93 USD -17.5% = 49,663 Base 335i £31,550 31,550.00 GBP = 63,851.01 USD - 17.5% = 52,677 Base 335i US price 38,900 335i money ratio 38,900 / 52,677 = .7385 135I us price adjustment 49663 * .7385 = 36,676 base 135I US price 36,676 Notice the numbers changed by less than $10...Nice try though ;-) |

You have to go: Base 135i £29,745 29,745.00 GBP = 60,197.93 USD / 1.175 = 51232.28 Base 335i £31,550 31,550.00 GBP = 63,851.01 USD / 1.175% = 54341.29 When you then do the rest of your calculations, you should come out to the exact same. We'er talking about percentages... when you add the same percent to 2 number, then find a ratio, the ratio will be the same with as without the percent added. 10/2 = 5 Add 50% to both number 15/3 = 5 Both equal 5!! |

With every passing day, I am starting to fear more and more that BMW is going to price my you-know-what right the hell out of the 135i.
Here's to hoping that the 128i w/ M package is decent. |

25,300 x 1.175 = 29,727 (I'm kind of in a hurry so I didn't bother with the exact number), should the base figure for the UK 135 not be around 25,300? And likewise for the 335.. I don't know what that does to the price. It may still be the same, but I think we should be using the UK prices with tax deducted before coming up with the ratios. Don't mean to beat a dead horse (or however the saying goes). |

stopped by my local BMW dealer yesterday to inquire about the 1 series and his best guess was a 33k base for the 135, however they will not be coming in as base models but with probably 3-4k in add ons bringing it to 36-37k before taxes and ish. also, he said they just found out they're releasing the convertible in the US. they were unaware of that. the best news i got was, they do not sell over sticker to locals. don't know if this is common for BMW or i'm just lucky, either way, i'll take it! i'm guessing this car will not be sold under sticker...

Are you guys are using the base price on the 335 coupe or sedan? I recall the msrp on the coupe being more at 40,800...
