Worldcarfans has all the cool pics. The Green is not too bad. I was getting awfully sick and tired of red and blue.
Here's the photo gallery. Be sure to note its 2 pages. http://www.worldcarfans.com/3070929....ries-cabriolet Here's the special "Moonlight Black" metallic look roof. And a quote about the material from the press release... "The standard softtop is available in either black or taupe cloth, but it is the optional Moonlight Black version which is unique to the 1 Series Convertible. Interwoven with fine shiny metallic fibers, this distinctive top produces a shimmery metallic silver appearance in sunlight." |

125i
Note that the gold car is badged "125i".... thus the smaller tires/rims..
Wheel wells should be the same for the coupe and cab.. so picture with 135i wheels.. Green is a 1990's color.... but looks good on there... Mine will be Lemans Blue... |

And my job here is done...
Leaked again:t-banghea
The 1er Cabrio is right within that demographic where we want to catch former MINI Cabrio owners before they are tempted with such models as VW EOS etc. Our statistics show that customers who have outgrown MINI tend to turn to another premium manufacturer with another trend setting product line or the latest must-have model. The aim for the Cabrio is for people not willing to wait for the new MINI Cabrio or if the MINI has become insufficient for their needs. The 1er Cabrio steps in to take that place . Of course the car is meant to appeal to the female demographic because this is the significant target market for the Cabrio in North America especially California. But it is not a "Window" car not something just to look good in it has ability and agility in abundance . Which will appeal to both Male and female driving enthusiasts. Both 1er Coupe and Cabrio are both models in which BMW describe as new "Niche" models . OK so you might argue that their is another premium Coupe like the C-Klasse SportCoupe? But BMW have the knack of learning from other manufacturers mistakes. Both Coupe and Cabrio will make their debut in the US at about the same time. The Coupe in (Europe) will inherit some of the engines featured in the Cabrio models from next Spring. Although BMW expect the best selling models of the Coupe in Europe to be the diesel powered 120d and 123d. There will be a seperate marketing campaign for the 135i Cabrio. But enjoy this one...:t-drive: |

Sorry but that green is FUGLY. It makes the car look like a 1996 convertible Mustang. The other color is not bad at all...but I'm sticking with the coupe (or Coup-ay as that toolbag on the BMW website pronounces it).

Not as nice as the coupe. I don't like how the softtop is integrated with the rear decklid. It makes the car look way too tall. Maybe the 135i cab will be better, but I'll be coupe all the way......

I like it, apart from the tiny rear window with hood up, has been translated pretty well from the CS1 concept IMHO.
Not sure why they won't put the 3.0i (265 bhp lump) in either the cab or the coupé tho. |

Without wishing to sound like a cracked record, I don't like the weight so much tho'...but guess it's not suprising...
1675kg EU1 for the 135i cab....115kg more than the coupé. Interesting that the 125i is 2996cc yet produces 218bhp at 6100rpm (same power as the N52 2.5 I believe) |

That's so later you can buy the bits from the BMW Performance Catalog to bring it up to 3.0i spec.

Anyone notice launch date?
Typically BMW launches their variants on the base four door model up to a year after intro of the base. Introducing the cab at the same time as the base coupe is really a departure! Looks like they plan to sell several boatloads of these things!

1675kg EU1 for the 135i cab....115kg more than the coupé. That weight number is insanely high for such a small car. Only a couple hundred pounds lighter than the 335 convertible. I was hoping for much less. Now the performance advantage will not be that great. Really a shame. |

Expecting anything less in this day and age is really unreasonable. FWIW, this is still the lightest, rear-wheel drive, four-seat convertible on the market, with the exception of the Porsche 911 Cabriolet (which hardly qualifies as a four-seater).
