Well there is going to be an X1 in 2010, based on the 1 series platform, but it'll be a compact SUV... Like the unholy lovechild of a 1-series and a RAV4...

I don't know... a couple months ago I asked our dealer if he thought they would bring a 1-series xi. He replied with a pretty firm no, but he may have just been thinking for 2008. He rationalized it saying that the AWD adds a lot of weight (which it sort of does) and that it wouldn't really be in keeping with the idea of the 1.

But you could be right, I guess your guess is as good as mine, and probably as good as any client advisor's right now.

No there will be no four wheel drive platform for the current 1er Platform . BMW see no point in having a four wheel drive small coupe. The next generation platform will form the base for the announced X1 not the current car.
