Jet Black or Sparkling Graphite (SGM is $475)

What color would you get on your 128i...SGM or Jet Black. Remember that Metallic paint is a $475 option. Also, what color leather would you get with your selection (SGM or Jet Black).

Sparkling Graphite:

nothing a garage, an occasional claybar, good quality wax and a hose down wouldnt fix....black is just IMO the classiest, best color for a car.....ultra cool, ultra sophisticated....and i live in the rainy dante's inferno of S Fla.....

IMO I cant understand why any guy would buy a car in red, blue, or puke inducing derivative of gold or champagne....

when I leased my G in diamond graphite 3 years ago, it was by far the "it" color.....although the SGM car above looks great, I'm so over gray....

I think Henry Ford had the right idea.....

Wow, 50/50 split so far. My vote was for SGM.

Though I agree that black is probably one of the sharpest colors you can get, my last car was black and I loved it, but with the climate here I always had to wash it to keep it clean. Keeping it clean meant drying it, drying it meant super-fine swirls on the clearcoat no matter how careful you are. Think of it as dating a model or the prom queen, it looks super hot, but can be really high maintenance.

I think SGM would probably hide any scratches or chips (heaven forbid) a lot better.

If you look back to the heritage of German cars, white and silver are also the German colors (Italian=red, french=blue, british=green, german=white/silver), I think is SGM is close enough to be in line with that heritage... Not that that really matters.

I saw a 335 in SGM with the Coral red interior. Definetly not as sharp a combo as black and red, but still looked pretty nice. If I went with the black I'd get the coral red int, if I went with the SGM I'd get the black int.

I love black, and in general I prefer metallic colors over flat ones, so why not the obsidian metallic?

My TSX was "carbon grey pearl", which is basically Honda's version of SGM, or what I refer to generically as "metallic grey". To me it was "the" color to have...an elegant but serious hue.

Picking an interior color and trim scheme that doesnt look whack would be the only challenge with SGM. It really reponds best to a black interior IMO. If you had your sights on terra or coral red leather the black would a much better backdrop.

yes, you are right on target...my G is diamond graphite, and it barely shows chips, scratches, or dirt......

However.........IMO the jet black with coral red combo for the 135 is drop dead gorgeous

Yeah, if I lived in California or something I think I would definetly get that exact combo, black with the coral red. But sadly it snows a lot here which means lots of gravel on the roads making for some nasty rock chips, and having to wash the car pretty much every few days during the winter. Thats why I like the graphites.

But yeah, like I said before, the 335 with a coral red interior and SGM exterior was nice, but I think you're right the coral and black would be pretty sweet. There is a Z4 that I see around here sometimes with that combo and I love it, black just makes me wake up in the middle of the night with nightmares of even the finest scratches and little white rock chips.

With either color, I'd probably choose the prono red interior, its really really growing on me...
