DAP on pre-LCI, how well can it recognize lanes?

I tried to look up informations on this but couldn't find any. But I have always What's the "expected" (lack of a better word) limit of the steering assist?

From my personal experience, it worked mostly as advertised on highways. Lane is almost always instantly recognized to enable steering assist the moment I enable the assistant mode. eTJA has also worked well for a few occasions as designed. However, it seems to not work so well on city roads. Sometimes lane recognition takes a few seconds with good lighting and won't recognize at all for an large sections of the road with dim lighting. Sometimes lane recognition is interrupted going through an intersection (I think it depends on whether KAFAS can see the markings on the other end). Sometimes steering assist gets confused by forks on local road and tries to steer into the poll...

How's your experience with DAP steering assist on pre-LCI? Do you like it for city driving?

I use it on all different road types (rural, highway, urban, etc.) and it works very well. I have not noticed any difference in it picking up the lanes on the different road types. It could be the difference in how the lanes are marked.

When you use steering assist and go through a large intersection, does it ever lose lanes and have to re-recognize it?

I think for that particular version, recorgnizing lines is fine as long as the lane does not split. It is how the car handles the curve is a bit wanky.

This. Lane splits, especially on more rural highways where the exit lane is not marked with lines on the road very well, it tends to drift or need me to take over.

Other than that - I've only had to take over a couple times in situations where it made sense - road construction causing the lines to be wonky or the highway got pretty twisty with a lot of traffic.

"It's not how well it dances, but that it dances at all."

Or, perhaps the secret to happiness is low expectations. No, it doesn't work all of the time but it does work in some surprisingly difficult areas.

Fairly often that occurs.

Did some more testing, I believe this is the key. The system is designed to recognize lane markings but not shoulders. It works well as long as there are lane markings on both sides. However, some urban roads in GTA does not having marking on the shoulder side and the system gets confused. All road sections I previously had difficulty using steering assist are like that.

Same experience here. I found the overall experience good and it is understandable to have limitations. On the side note, can the pre-LCI steering assist automatically exit a clearly marked highway with nav from carplay/android auto? From my experience it does not. Am I missing something?

I meant difference between Canada and the US. It is going to depend on the markings, lighting conditions, windshield clarity, etc. As long as it can get one recognizable marking it will work, both sides do not need to be marked. Think urban streets, it works there with just the center lane marked.

I took this pic this morning. They are repaving our road and only have some temporary markings but the system picks them up and the steering works well. I think it looks for a pattern in the markings and if it can determine where the lane is then it will engage cruise mode 2.
