BMW residuals...

Anyone know how well BMW cars hold up after 3-5+ years as far as value?

What can we expect of the 128i/135i lines?

IIRC, most lower-end Bimmers like the 3-er keep a large percentage of their value for the first 3 years, and then after that they plummet rapidly. Bigger Bimmers like the 7-er plummet the instant they're off the lot and keep dropping value like a rock in a lake. Of course I'm not backing any of this up with data, just my poor memory.

Based on the above bad info; I'd guess the 1-er would have pretty good residuals early on; probably dropping value after a few years somewhere between the MINI and 3-er. The MINI is a financial machine; even 5 year old MINI's are still demanding big prices compared to their sticker price!

In other words, a 3-year lease could be quite nice.

certainly the bmwfs residuals reflect exactly what you say however i believe that that is because the early residuals(24-36mo.) are inflated to make the 24-36mo. leases attractive.; it therefore appears that there is a huge drop between 36 and 48 months. in an owned vehicle i believe that the depreciation is somewhat more linear, or more correctly it is still exponential but not skewed by manipulated residual values.
