Importing just the clear/white front corners

Who or which organization, if not my local BMW dealer, do you think would be the first to "import" those white/clear European front corner lens to the U.S. -- as "grey market" or whatnot? I think it'll be my first mods, hell with regulations. I'm also assuming it'll take regular tools, to swap it in the privacy of my own garage. :headbang:

It would be great if it was just a matter of removing a color slide rather then changing the entire housing. Wouldn't this be the more cost effective way to do it from a manufacturer's point of view?

Probably crazy expensive, since they have to come from Europe. I wonder if a group buy would make it worthwhile? Any European members able to get a price for us?

^ yes, but to remove, you must heat up the lights to spread them apart...

I'm not sure about you guys, but I'm not putting a headlight tha has motors (for the moving hid's) attached to it in my oven...

Unless there is something new, last i knew, on e90 post you had to buy the whole headlights for the e90's. I would assume the 1er would be the same, but I could always be wrong...

I baked/removed the amber in my `02 RSX-S. It was quite easy, but I dont see myself baking the 135i headlights, unless you can dis-assemble them to the point that no motors are on them...

This is not an advertisement for any particular tool, and this is NOT a hair dryer!

But I totally agree about NOT doing it if it requires heating. I don't think heating a piece of plastic is considered "regular" mechanical repair activity, especially if there are attached devices to the housing. Then again, I do own this particular tool for my business, and I know how to use it properly... :headbang:

^ yeah, we did another friends car with one and a bunch of flat-headed screw drivers, it worked, kinda, but I guess we were impatient because it left a lot of marks on the frist one. The second did, however, turn out better...

This was a long time ago too, so he might just not have known how to use it properly...

It depends.... on my s4 there are 3 yellow tabs that u can heat up with a sodering iron tip and pop out the yellow amber.... then break it up and pull it through the bulb hole. Then use something to cover up the hole so no moisture gets in there.

Do ED and find some crazy 1er owner that wants amber up front, pick up the car, swap them out, do the ED thing, return the car and have it delivered to your dealership with the clears...

Far fetched idea, but it is an idea...

That being said there will many chances to do just that by shipping back and forth instead.

I like the clear look w/Orange Bulbs better myself.

Has anyone disassembled the headlights to see if the amber parts inside can be removed? It does look like the entire headlight assembly would need to be replaced, too bad the corner lenses are not separate pieces.
