tuning the 135i engine

I have been part of e90 for a while and read alot about the tuning for this car. i am very excited about this, but one thing that concerns me and I hope comes soon to these cars, is custome tunes. Every car from the factory is different and in my opinion should be customed tune to run perfect. Also if you have custom tunes, they can tune for every little thing you do. What you guys think?

I agree wit u, I driving a mustang for now and the guy on the mustang forums live and die by custom tunes. For the mustang its not a bad price. The problem wit the 1 is gonna be finding a good reliable shop that has the know-how to tune then 1. Being turbo'd there is def plenty to gain from a custom tune after modding. However the plug and play programs avaiable are pretty good.

The more cars with the N54 motor, the more options you'll have. As the potential market expands, so will options and shops offering these services.

We have the 1er, 3er, and 5er already. Think about a possible Z4, X3, and X5 variant. That would be expanding the market greatly...

Tuning is very important, yes off the shelf maps work, but I read all the time over on e90 about cars going into limp mode, using the procede, which was and still is number one on my list for when I get the 1 or 3. That concerns me though, I don't want to buy somehting like, then have issues. Id rather spend some extra money to have a tune that fits MY car. Just because you have the same exact parts as one car, does not mean it will run the same with the same map.

Now and days the cars are closed loop and tune themselves, even after adding power. I just tell the car the air/fuel ratios I want and it does the rest.
