ProTool Adapter Question

Is this going to sound cheap after spending $150 on a license, yes, but saving $50 is a tank of gas

I’m wanting to code in the adaptive highbeams; do I REALLY need the ProTool expert K+DCAN cable or will one of the Amazon one work just as well?

Not an ENET ethernet adapeter, the USB one; usually come in clear, etc

The $20 enet cable works, it’s yellow. I use the $60 WiFi adapter with enet capability.

Thanks for that, I have the yellow ENET cable but it wasnt working, so I assumed it was not compatible.

In the end, i took my ENET cable apart and found out that it was actually the resistor inside the cable that died, so I need a new cable.

One other thing I found out, on my Pixel 6a I had to enable Ethernet Tethering to allow ProTool to connect to the car

I use their Bluetooth adapter and it actually works really well. Fast as heck, probably not that different from WiFi. They must use some other protocol for rewriting code compared to BimmerCode, I'm guessing just rewriting the changes instead of the entire block.

when you're doing stuff like this you must put it in airplane mode or you will have a hell of a time connecting.

Maybe it’s a pixel thing but I didn’t have to disable WiFi or put the phone in airplane mode.

Plug in the ENET adapter to the car the phone, close the door, enter diagnostic mode, then enable Ethernet tethering - Boom golden.
