Helix Attaché.

So with all of the other threads for other piggybacks and the Dinan ECU flash I am surprised no one started one for Helix. So I did.

So far someone on the E90 forums has put down 388whp and over 400 ft/lbs with Riss Racing DPs, Helix IC, and ofcourse the Attaché. There was a tune involved and a new intake was suggested as the factory is very restrictive. Just as a not this was done on 93 octane. With all of that and an aftermarket intake and an aggressive tune I see no reason why whp numbers above 400 should not be attainable .
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=96227&page=64

Also spoke with Eric today from Helix and this is what has me sold as of right now with the Helix - CUSTOMER SERVICE! He was extremely helpful especially with me not even having the car yet. Explained that before they release their product they want to make sure any bump in the road no matter how minor is resolved. Tried to squeeze out of him what plans they have for our N54 but all he said was "a lot". Overall a pleasant convo on the phone with him today and I look forward to doing business with Helix in the future. Plus it helps that Im picking up my car 7 minutes from their shop.

Almost forgot! http://www.helixbimmersport.com/

Yep, looks promising. Their tunes have shown far and away the largest gains on dynos, one of their customers showed a gain of 78rwhp on a Mustang Dyno with just the base tune, and no other mods.

From e90post: Attache is $795. The price for the FMIC mentioned later in the thread is $959.

I wouldn't say far and away largest gains. I think it's going to be very close between the Attache and the PROcede V2. cars tend to vary a bit and there are so many variables when dynoing. it will be interesting when you get a lot of Attaches out there.

One positive for the Helix... so far there have been no limps and the power band was made for everyday driving... From everything I have read Helix sounds really good to me

Seems to be too many problems, at least for me, with the procede. I want to install it and forget about it. I will not be adding race fuel and changing settings so the Attache is more of what I'm looking for.

I feel the same way, although I may go with JB2, JB2H or SSTT, which have been pretty limp free and don't require race fuel. I have 93 octane here, so I won't have the issues of the 91 octance (max) states.

Procede V2 seems like a great product, but I don't want to fuss with maps and increased potential for limp modes. It almost seems like V1.47 should be thrown into the mix of fairly stable tunes though. You're still loading maps though.

I am watching the Helix everyday. I think this will be the product for me. Also, the cost of the FMIC seems reasonable. What I like about the Helix is it stores 2 maps. Just install and be done with it. The procede seems like it has to many issues, limp modes,...I'm no longer a fan of the procede.

My top choices right now are-
Helix
Juice Box
Dinan Stage 2??? however, I think the cost will be way to much.

attache does look awesome but part of the reason you see so many problems with the PROcede is that there are so many out there. and a lot of the problems are from people not knowing what there doing and incorrect installations. The attache does look like it might be more user friendly though.

I'll be looking for max performance and have a local sunoco station with 100 octane so I'll definitely be going the PROcede rout. and I like playing with my cars

When i first started doing research I was leaning towards the V2. More and more I'm now leaning towards the Helix. For multiply reasons.
1. The cost. $795 vs. 1295
2. Limp codes ( I do agree that some are caused by installations issues but the V2 is still having issues.
3. Shiv has been less and less active with the BMW forums and tunes since the release of the Evo X and STI, Helix has a great rep with the mini crowd and so far a very good one with anyone that has dealt with them for a bmw.
4. I like having 2 maps on the fly without my laptop. Flip a switch and I can go back to stock if the girlfriend should ever drive the car( unlikely, HAHA)

Ok, making it Red helped emphasize the impact of the price. But it just doesn't do it the true justice it deserves. It needs something more like this:

Attache is $795!!

From what I read on the website it also claims to be plug and play.

I believe the install is similar to the Procede and the JuiceBox, where you do have to tap and intercept wires in the control modules.

I do not believe it is plug-n-play, like the SSTT is.

Just wait until there are meets and runs with us! I wish you luck in your trying endeavor.

Back to the Helix Attaché. Convenience asv is what led me to start this thread and get the word spread. They have a dyno in shop and have experience installing numerous products out for the 335i already. The day I pickup my car I will be driving it to their shop and seeing if their IC will drop in, or at the least a rough idea.

2 maps by the flick of a switch is GREAT. If I ever have to lend a car to a family member or take a girl to a nice restaurant that requires valet, VOILA! Or for the more hardcore racers you can possibly have a high octane map for when you feel like filling up for over $100, and ofcourse some extra power. I have to get Helix in here.

+1 The switch concept and the idea of developing a relationship with a local shop really appeals to me. I like the fact that these guys are brick and motar, and not some fly by night operation on the Internet.

You guys around Phila should also check out VAC Motorsports in S.Philly. http://www.vacmotorsports.com/index.php
They've had a big presence in the serious bmw racing community for many years and are longtime bmwcca club racing nat'l sponsors.

They are not big on fancy pedals or cf decals, but if you want extreme duty clutches, dry sumps, serious tunable suspensions etc. they are pros.
