Yawn. Try harder Hartge.

As far as "tuning programs" go, this is remarkably underwhelming.

A drop, some mirror covers and the same boat anchor wheels we've seen on everything else they've done.

Snore. Wake me up when you've wedged a new 4.0L V8 under the hood.

Does provide an interesting clue to wheel/tire fitment:

"These range from 8.5 x 18" offset 40 with 225 / 40 ZR 18 front to 9.0 x 19" offset 46 with 255 / 30 ZR 19 rear."

Sorta confirms 18x8.5 is possible up front--hello non-staggered setup.

Yes:
  • Front= 225/40 ZR 18 (8.5 x 18")
  • Rear= 255/30 ZR 19 (9.0 x 19")
What set-up are you thinking Mike?

I'm looking at an inexpensive street setup 18x8.5, et40, all-corners, which I was worried about fitting in front. I'll try and streeeetch the 215 OE RFTs for the front until they wear out, then maybe 235x40 non-RFTs all around for street. Since I'm running a stock SOLO class this season I'll use the OE wheels (no change in sizes allowed) mounted with 225x40 and 245x35 DOT-R Comps for events. I'm trying to have some fun with the car but not break the bank.

it is possible but not with standard rear rims. Maybe when used with spacers. But wheels will far out and without camber it wil look stupid.

Right. I'm planning on using aftermarket wheels to square it up.

Why are you so surprised? Hartge apply this family look to most of their "tuning programs" and leave the flashy addenda to others.

If they do shoehorn a V8 in it will probably look the same, just as it did with the E87 H1 5.0.

What is the point though when you can liberate 380bhp from the current engine and leave the chassis balance untouched?

If you plan to add power to the car (even with mild chips such as JB2, SSTT etc.) then I think 235 in the rear with street tires will not suffice. IMO.

Good point, adc. Most likely the 235s would be tires with better grip than the OE 245 RFTs, but I'll just have to see how it plays out. My street driving is pretty sedate, well, not crazy anyway.

I no longer do crazy street driving either. That said, I have a 335 with JB1 and 265 tires in the rear (stock SP rims) and I'm having tremendous oversteer fun in the corners - in the dry.

In the rain, I stick an egg between my right foot and the gas pedal. It's not as much fun as my previous 330i ZHP, it' lots scarier. I guess that shows how much more I need to learn...

ADC is right.
255's RFt in the summer(75F+) have a hard time hooking up somtimes on my 335i.
being that the 135i is light and comes with even 235's this is gonna toast up with a tune. esp in colder days(60F-) where the tires are just gonna break traction constantly.

Traction will be an issue I'll need to be careful about, for sure.

So what 8.5" ET40 wheels do you have in mind?

I've had OZ Superleggeras in my E46 and they were great, but I think they only make'em in 8" or 9" for BMW's...
