Smile 135 Performance brakes?

Anyone selling the drilled brake rotors as in the performance catalogue yet?

Thanks!

Arent drilled prone to cracks, maybe DBA australia will bring out slotted rotors...which are much better...

Not if they are half good. I had Porsche 993 biturbo brakes for years, never had 1 single issue.

Stay away from the cheaper drilled rotors, which are designed for show versus performance.

Make sure you get some seat time before you think about brake upgrades. I test drove a 135 yesterday, and think I locked the wheels at like 4 mph. The brakes are legit. The first time you step on the pedal, it feels like they are going to rip the rotors in half. Food for thought

Drilled brakes are generally considered inferior in terms of actual performance, but since Brembo does your brakes, you can probably get some generic ones.

Personally, I use slotted rotors on the track. Unfortunately, you cannot buy solid rotors for the Porsche twin turbo, or at least I have not found them yet.

Not all "drilled" brake rotors are created equal!
Factory Porsche rotors with holes are NOT actually drilled - the holes are cast into the rotor when it is made. Porsche uses this method to reduce stress-cracking. When cast this way, the metal molecules "flow" around the hole with less surface tension which significantly helps reduce cracking.
Aftermarket "drilled" rotors are usually just that - a plain, solid surface rotor that has literally had the holes drilled through it. Although much easier and less costly to produce, drilling the rotors creates surface tension and stresses adjacent to the holes - which will promote cracking.
So although factory Porsche replacement "cast hole" rotors tend to cost more than aftermarket "drilled" rotors, there *IS* a difference. The Porsche-supplied rotors will tend to last longer before the stress-cracking inevitably develops.
Just food for thought....

I had 993tt calipers on my quattro track monster car, using an Audi S4 rotor. Maybe they have been surpassed by now but at the time there was nothing comparable in terms of weight (they were cast monoblocks) and clamping power. German companies like Mov'it made kits adapting them to everything from 355s to Chevy Suburbans. Ditto on drilled rotors, unless they come from the Porsche parts bin they are purely cosmetic and performance wise inferior to solid or slotted rotors. Personally I have never run anything but solid rotors on my big heavy quattro track car or 2500lb 911 racecar. On the other hand I have seen plenty of drilled rotors on street cars with hairline cracks connecting the dots.

If it's cosmetics you want, why not take a power drill to your current rotors, make 1/8" holes and color the inside with a black sharpie? Just an idea.
