Brighten Up Your OEM Angel Eyes....what do you think?

umnitza.com has an upgrade kit for your oem angel eyes to turn them from the orange color to bluish white, do you guys think this is a waste of money?

Thanks,
Jeff

I am definitely considering this upgrade to be the first. I've read somewhere on an e87 forum that it's just plug and play with the blubs? Can anyone confirm this?

that is a crazy amount of money. I plan on using GP Thunders 35w H8 bulb just like the e92 does.....assuming we are still a H8. Can someone please check the owners manual and see what the bulb is for the halo rings.
By the way the bulbs are 15 bucks and offer very similar color and light output. I can't see the $200 cost.

My bulbs shipped... Btw, the inner corona rings are quite a bit brighter than the outer ones, I guess to serve as the DRLs.

Subscribing, keep us posted!

This is the one small thing that annoyed me about the car. A very futuristic design with dull, boring, yellow corona rings. If you can make those into bright white (around 6000K) rings just by switching the bulbs, that would be awesome!

You're in luck my friend!

Since BMW knew everyone would eventually do this mod themselves, they decided to give you a free DIY walkthrough booklet when you buy the car! Its called the "Owner's Manual" and it teaches you how to change light bulbs and lots of other cool stuff!

Sorry for being a jerk...this is just so different to me coming from a Subaru forum where people are baking their headlights and painting them without thinking twice, compared to this forum where people request step-by-step instructions to changing a light bulb.

Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty, even the smallest changes can be very rewarding when you do them yourself!

i am not surprised by the $200 price point. UMNITZA is kind of known for being a rip off company. I got suckered into losing $500 for angel eyes from them back in the day

That is a jerk response. I for one have no problems getting my hands dirty, I have built a 1934 Chevy pickup with a 4" chop 3" section, and 2" channel by myself over a 6 year period and have created a lot of DIY for other sites over the years! I think in showing others how easy a mod is with a good DIY that maybe they will have the guts to do it and enjoy their car even more with a feeling of pride that they did it. What is wrong with helping someone?

Brown Boy does have a point though, i don't think it was directed totally at you, but at frustration with many "luxary" car owners.

I remember baking my Scion tC lights to install fresh led angel eyes myself. And then taking out the whole housing and installing new ones when I was bored with that.

I think he used you as a vessel to make his point.

BTW I don't like old trucks but that one is killer!!!:respekt:

And I do like DIYs for simpler jobs. Modders have to get started somewhere. If every DIY is an intimidating job, there will be less of a talented pool to draw from for NEW ideas!

I am going with the bulb. $400 is way too steep for this mod.

This forum is a lot more civilized than say, the at times acrimonious m3post.

Yeah, I am a 35 year old adrenalin junkie. I need to grew up someday, but I even still skateboard at the parks and halfpipes as well. Snowboarding is one of greatness natural highs in life, I love to go night boarding here in Washington at Stevens Pass.

The YZ is amazing!!! The new four strokes are like this car in that torque is always there, no need to rev and find any type of powerband like a two stroke.

Be safe in Iraq!!!
