Anyone get a dinan tune yet?

I can't wait to hear how the 135i runs on dinan software!

same as the 335i power-wise. expect the 135i to be faster though due to the 200lb difference.

Spoke to someone at Dinan and it should be the same considering the 335 and 535 had the same software

Thanks for the confirmation. I was going to call dinan but figured they receive similar calls every few minutes. I'm dead set on dinan other than waiting to see if bmw ends up offering their own software upgrade.

Dinan has the 135i tune up on their website now. I would imagine it isn't much different than the E92 version. (i.e. the same)

http://www.dinancars.com/store/Engin...p-1-c-783.html

I've already made an inquiry to a local dinan installer. I will probably be doing it very soon.

Please keep us updated regarding this tune. Before driving the 135i I was dead set on getting it done, however after driving it I'm on the fence as to whether it really needs the added power. I'm sure once I spend a few months (weeks?) with the stock 135i I'll be ready for the added power.

The big question I have with Dinan is, if I pay 2K to get the flash, and my dealer does something dumb like reflashing the ECU, will I get a reflash for free?

damn good question that i've been wondering about myself. i will try my best to get an answer to this prior to having my install done.

my guess is that the reflash is free but labor might be charged unless the dinan installer was the one that messed it up to begin with. but i really don't know.

if i find anything out i'll post.

I dont know how it is with other dealers but my dealer informed me that they are a certified Dinan tuner. They have personel from Dinan at the dealership each week training the mechanics on new Dinan products and doing tunes. This is a nice guarantee that anything tuning I get done will be backed by warranty since its done at my dealership plus every single mechanic there has been trained by Dinan so there is no way they will accidently reflash the car or mess anything up.
Check with your dealer and see if its the same. Will save you some sleep at night.

There is a guy on the e90 forums that just ran his Dinan tuned 335 at infineon near San Fran. Only mods to the car was the Dinan Tune and a drop in air filter. Best Times were 13.0x and 12.9x. This is an excellent time at that track considering you'll run .2 tenths faster out at Sacramento Raceway. I have personal experience at both tracks.

Also, this was on stock runflat tires, however he said he did put a couple gallons of 100 octane.

My guess is a Dinan Tuned 135i will run in the 12.6/12.7 range on stock runflats. Thats one hell of a car/daily driver with the factory warranty!!!!

I'll be getting the Dinan tune after I get a few miles on my one.....

Does one need to break in the car before installing the Dinan mod?
I was thinking of having the dealer install it before I take delivery of the car...

This is a very subjective subject. Some will say wait until the recommended break in period, others will say "DOOOO IT"

I'm going to get a couple thousand miles on my motor first.... I also want to get some baseline 1/4 mile runs with the car, then I will get the tune.

This is definitely the way to go. If the dealership you buy and get service from has a good working relationship with Dinan I would think you have a much better chance of not having problems with warranty related issues.

I answered this in another post.. as long as you have the tune, you pay once.. if BMW puts out a flash to fix something, the Dinan dealer redoes the Dinan tune, which is only part of the complete BMW tune, more of a patch than a full program

As long as your dealership is also a dinan distributor it won't be a problem for them to flash both upgrades. I think the problem will be if your dealer does a bmw flash upgrade then you have to drive to your dinan dealer to have the dinan reflashed.

I'm getting very anxious to hear the first driver's story of 135i dinan flash.

I might get it done this afternoon.

My problem is that the only dealer in my town listed as a Dinan installer has a reputation as being the worst dealership in town. Big time a-holes that are arrogant and rip you off ... especially in the service department.

The other Dinan installer is a small independent tuner shop. If I do it I'd go with them ... but I'll lose the synergy between BMW warranty repairers and Dinan installers.

update from my local dinan installer:

"
If the dealer re-flashes the DME, we reload the software for free."

:w00t:

I have an appointment this afternoon for the install.

Hi Larryn,

Do you know of any good air filters that got good reviews on the 335coupe?
I am thinking of changing to a new air filter.

Thanks!
