Dealership Fun
Hey if you guys are bored and want something to do, head down to your local BMW dealership and stand beside the 1'er.
The comments and questions as people walk up and see it for the first time are hilarious. Nobody has a clue what it is and the SA's are trying to sound like they know the car but their knowledge is very limited especially compared to us 1Addicts. It's very hard not to step in and start explaining the car. I think the best part is the people that approach the car from the front and then almost run to the rear to see the badge. I spent an hour doing this yesterday as I waited for them to prep a 135 manual for me to test drive and the experiance was almost as much fun as the test drive (well not quite).

kinda sounds like the dealership I went to for my test drive, I told my SP more about the car then he knew. My wifes says I should look into selling them. I guess if they had a good demo plan it would be worth it .

Hey Wolf, just got back after test driving the 135i. Man that thing is fun! Brakes melt your face off, exhaust note is growly and aggressive but I found one thing quite weird. The clutch is a tad lighter than my current E46 325i. Regardless its fun to drive, and man those seats are comfy.

Ya, I was lucky enough to be the first test pilot in that beast. By the time I got back to the lot there was a line of people waiting to take it out. The clutch felt light to me too but in a good way.
It was really tough driving my S2000 home and I never ever thought I would say that.

What did you think of the shifter? I found it a tad knotchy, like from 1st to 2nd but maybe because people have been thrashing it around a bit. Proper break-in is needed definitely.

I loved the shifter. Nice short throws and I loved how stubby it was not to mention how well the shift knob felt in my hand. Ahhhhh.
Not quite as crisp as my S2K but much better than my friend's 335i.

Nice to hear you comments on the shifter. Shifters don't get much shorter or smoother then the S2000's. If it compares favorably to that then it should be good.

nice... today I finally saw one at a dealer... but sadly there was nobody there but us... and my friends already know that I ordered it and what it is...
BEAUTIFUL CAR sorry, I just had to get that off my chest. I didn't like Sedona Red in the flesh... the SGM I had seen before was better, IMO. The SA said the spare was probably in the back, and that there must have been a mistake in the tyre tax (x4). When I said Run-Flats, he looked puzzled... so I went over to look at an M3. |
