Whats a good 135 Tuner??
I have looked at burgertuning and they have a good package but i cant really find any other affordable places to get parts from! I know Dinan and Vishnu are good but really exspensive.

Try Juice Box. its less than $400
http://www.burgertuning.com/ it's cheap and seem to work well according to the posts I've read. DO YOUR RESEARCH Messing with forced induction (turbos) is not for the weak of heart. There are reasons why auto makers leave the extra horse power on the designing board. The most common reason is reliability. Edit: Just realized burger tuning is juice box. DUH !! but it does cost the least

it seems the more expensive solutions have the least reliability problems...
Dinan actually has a warrenty Vishnu's problems seem more to do with oil coolers Juicebox details are sketchy, and the developer is banned from many websites |

And I think most would agree we've gone out of our way to show a ton of technical detail on how our tuner works, probably too much. But if you have any questions please feel free to ask and I'll do everything I can to answer! If you're looking for independent dyno and track results I can't post links here but they are posted everywhere. Just search 'Juice Box' or 'JB2'. |

My local shop uses Active Autowerke exclusively, with good results. The chip itself is cheap, but you'd be crazy to chip your 135i without an intercooler.. so one way or another, you will be spending around $2500 installed.

Well see dinan is good and all but lately there have been some 335 motors that have blown up because of the ecu and the after market oil cooler is recommended! so thats like $3500. But the worse part is that they refused to warrenty the motor and so did BMW so now those people are left with a $45,000 car that doesnt work! kinda stinks! There must be a way to prevent that from happening so this way its almost a win win situation for the poeple that are willing to spend that kind of money.
Terry, What kind of problems have you guys been noticing with the juice box 2? B/c im very intrested in the package with down pipe and everything sounds good. What do you think about the BMW performance intake? |

AA does great work. But not sure I agree on the intercooler. The factory piece works very well and the quickest 1/4 mile cars are running the stock intercoolers. But for road racing and to get that extra edge its a nice mod.

As I said earlier we've sold around 500 of the JB2s and not a single issue has come up that was related to the tuner. No check engine lights, no limps, no warranty denials, etc. But when you start to get in to our race tunes then you open yourself up for more trouble. So stay with the JB1 and JB2 for reliable trouble-free performance gains. Intakes make a lot of sense, especially at higher HP levels. |

I'm a UK 135i owner who's keen to find out more about the JB1/JB2 route. As far as you know, will your tune work on a UK/European 135i??? Mad Chemist. |

Yes, we have many JBs floating around the UK and Europe. Just keep in mind your gas rating is different for our more aggressive tunes. Stick with the JB1, JB2, or JB2H.

I have been researching this for the last 3 months - and talking to owners of most engine tuning vendors. I made the decision to go with the JB2 - which appears to be the best bang for the buck as well as safest tune for Denver's high altitude. Even the Dinan tune worries me at 13psi for up here.
When I had my Audi S4 - I had the option to go with a very high strung GIAC X chip - or an MTM chip tuned for this altitude. I'm glad I went with the MTM - my car put 40k miles on the tune with no problems - where others were blowing their K03 turbos. |

Kirk, do you have any dynos vs. baseline? on a 135 preferrably. Also, if we don't live by your shop, can we do the install ourselves? How hard is the install as compared to say jb2 (wires) or turbo tuner (plug and play). thanks

Do your own research, weigh all the factors, and make the best decision for your personal situation. Others are going to weigh their factors differently than you will. You would be nuts to buy one over the other because of a thread like this one. I'm impressed that this very "loaded" thread is remaining civil. kudos to you all. |

Just to add a bit of a tease to this (and shame you into becoming BMW CCA members ; -), us BMW CCA members will see a couple of tuner 335is reviewed in the April copy of Roundel.

Purpose wouldn't be for power, it would be for longevity. My mechanic says while the AA processor is good, it stresses components that may cause problems down the road (i.e., years)
