MISSING! "Year one of the 1"-Canada
About to take delivery on a 135i coupe and noticed in the pics that there is no engraving on the starter ring. I thought they all had this? Dealer also appears to know nothing of the info binder and certificate that was also to come with. Disappointed this is missing as it adds a little something to the car. Anyone else experience this?

That is strange. Every Canadian car I've seen so far has had it.

Well that would just piss me off.
This should be in the Canadian forum, no? Could one of the Mods move it?

Thanks Larry.
I'm hitting the local dealer later this afternoon to check out their stock.

Dealer looking into W/BMW Canada
Contacted my sales rep and he is going to have a look into with BMW Canada. I wonder if it was an oversight or if it can be replaced? Is there anyone with the certificate and binder images that come with the US versions? Should have an answer by tomorrow and I'll repost.
Was to pick up my car on Tuesday, but not too confident driving it back in snow over the rockies! |

Looked at 7 cars on the lot of my local dealer. 135 Coupe's and 128 Cabrios. All of the cars had the engraving except for one of the Coupes and it was the one with the newest VIN number.
This is not good news for those of us waiting for their cars.

O.K. folks, let's try to see if there is a pattern as to which have the "engraved" starter button and which don't.
My 128i Cab was customer ordered (e.g. pre-sold) and was built late Feb. BTW, mine has the "engraved" button. Was yours ordered or "off the lot"? When was it built?

Quote: "BMW is pulling out all the stops to ensure that the 1-Series coupe and cabriolet are successful in the US, and the marketing push reaches all the way to the stop-start button. To commemorate the beginning of the 1-Series, BMW is engraving each and every stop-start button with "Year One of the 1". The phrase pretty much says it all, and enthusiasts waiting in line for the spry little Bimmer are probably already committed to buying the smallest RWD vehicle in America with or without the special message. We're looking forward to taking a 135i out on public roads, and we'll let you know if we actually notice the forgetful little phrase embedded into the overplayed stop-start button."

Engraving Update
I heard back from the salesman today and he said the BMW was only engraving the first month of the car. Not sure of the how accurate this is or not. Is this a Canadian problem only or North America? Anyone have any Canadian literature that says otherwise? I'll update when I hear more.
