BMWUSA.COM just added "Faster" section

BMWUSA.COM just finished their "Faster" section in "Explore the new 3" section of the website. Information about the engine and transmission.

What is with that steptronic transmission? I thought I understood it because I test drove an IS300 E shift. I ordered my 325i with steptronic thinking it was similar to the eshift (shift is on the steering wheel) but from that video, I'm not sure I understand how the bmw works now. I never test drove a bmw with steptronic but I just figured it was the same as the IS. from the vid, it looks like you can only shift into + or - ...what the heck is +/-? I assumed you could shift the 6 gears on the steering wheel. I guess not. Anyone know how it works?

Yeah. You just push the shifter lever right or left towards the plus and the minus. Its pretty much the same as on the steering wheel. My brothers gf's 530i has one. Its pretty nice. I prefer manual personally.

i just wanna clarify that you push the lever left to get into "manual" shift mode on the steptronic.

thereafter, you pull back on the shift lever (it slides back to the middle after you do) to shift up and push forward to shift down.

you can push it back to the right to go back into automatic shift mode.

if the new one is like the current one, then moving the lever to the left but not shifting + or - will leave the transmission in sport mode for more agressive gear holding and shifting. this made a huge difference in the demeanor of the car i drove last saturday (2005 330Ci).
