frustraded with wait / lack of information

Hi,

somebody cheer me up here please:

Place my order on Sat. Apr. 5th.
Monday morning Apr. 7th I get an email from the Dealership Business Office saying that my Credit Application got approved and they would put the order into the system.
Monday Apr. 14th I received my production#.

Haven't heard anything since. I asked both BMW Canada hotline and my SA about scheduled production dates. Neither gave me any information.
I keep bugging my SA so on Thursday. Apr. 24th. he sends me a "temp.vehicle number"... WTF is that?

I seems that a lot of people have posted turnaround of about 3 weeks from order to production (if not completion). I don't seem to be even scheduled for production yet?!

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Manuel

Ask your CA for the VIN..
If there's not one yet, then you're still a way to go to get to production and ask him to put a priority on your order.
If he gives you the VIN, then you'll know you are, at worst, about a week from production - and, at best, in production.
Once you're in production you are about 6 weeks from getting your 1er..

+1
If your SA can't get you a VIN, you are a ways off.
I waited a month and a half from when I ordered to when I got my VIN but 135 Cabrios did not start building until late March.

I placed my order in mid-February and I am still waiting to get my cabrio hopefully end of this month.

I saw a guy getting his cabrio last week at my dealership, my SA told me that guy placed his order a few days before X'mas.

Wait wait wait......

Grave danger you are in...

Yup the wait is crazy. My car is waiting on the docks of Germany. The boats I am guessing are back logged. I was hoping for late May (a dream ok) now it looks like early June... But with anything you wait for add 1 month for good measure (and to keep your hair in)

In the mean time, use this time to;

1. downloading the manual and memorizing it.
2. seeing other peoples choice of colour and wonder if you made the right choice.
3. prayer (your car doesn't end up as scrap before it gets here)
4. go over your quoted invoice for things you don't understand.
5. Insurance, extra tire warranty, clear bra's, and anything else the SA can get you for
6. wished you got a manual/auto nav or no nav, etc etc
7. meed others online like myself in your area and consider a big 1 meet to compare notes.
8. read up about the poor saps that already have dings, scratches, or things that just don't work
9. read up about computer upgrades that have failed for owners.
10. posting a ga-zillion msgs now to know everyone, because once you get the car, 1addicts forum could become "BMW:wikimanual"
10a. Pay lots of attention to your Girlfriend(s),Wife(s),children(s),pets(s),etc (hopefully in that order) cause when you get the car, it will be just U and BMW.

BTW you can also find out which week build your car is, and find out who else will be on your boat. Lets not forget dreams? Every night I wake up at 1:35 with the same dream...

WOW. Great post. Hilarious Yoda bit. I'm going to go see him fight Dooku on my big screen and follow along with my IKEA show horn.

Have no idea what that is. Your VIN should start with WBA.

I ordered right around the same time as you. I placed the order on April 7th but it didn't go in until a couple days later. I had a production number by the 14th and got my VIN on the 30th. At that time it was 50% built. Hope this helps. Yours could be on the same boat as mine.

What dealership did you order from if you don't mind me asking?

No car for me anytime soon. Another 2 months of waiting...
Sad I am.

That's too bad. I've been checking the shipping company website with my VIN but it hasn't come up yet. I'm thinking it's second week of June for me.
