Pre Wired for Sirius and CD-Changer
I guess these cars are pre wired for both Sirius and for a CD changer..... I ordered my car without Sirius and am having some remorse...... My '06 Altima has Sirius and I love it.
Has anyone added Sirius/XM (to a car without the factory sirius) ?? How well is the Sirius integrated if it is added later??? Comments please.....thanks!!!!:headbang: |

No need to add a CD changer. Get the USB integration and you can use a USB memory stick, IPOD or a portable hard drive to add your songs. I have a 8GB USB flash drive and I have over 30 CD's on it and it has space left. Much better then a CD changer in my opinion!

Even if you can't have it added later, you could always get the in-car device for either sat. radio company. However, I too would like to have Sirius added and don't want to have extra devices/wires on the dash.

I am using my own Sirius. I placed the antennea on the rear window shelf, and ran the wire alongside/under rear seat up to the console. I keep the docking station in the second cupholder. When I use it, I place the receiver in the first cupholder. It works great. It gets power from the console and sound through AUX.

I still have trouble paying for radio... unless you dont have many stations in your area. I'd go will the USB and load many CD's on it.
HD makes sense. |

I thought so too when I had XM. I only listened to about 4-5 stations on there. It seemed like a waste to pay for it. However, it was REALLY nice to have the hockey games on there. I thought that was sweet.
I didn't get Sirius because I didn't want to keep adding to the price of the car. I figured I could always add one after the fact. However, I didn't know that the dealer could retrofit it afterwards. That makes me happy.

Due to my order circumstances (I stole a just finished order from another dealer), my car didn't have sat radio on it and I wanted it. The dealer told me they can install it and it will be the same as factory. However, I have wait a few weeks because there are software issues. I'll report back when it's done.

I set my mac to record sirius everyday, so when I grab my ipod on the way out the door i have yesterdays stern and a few hours of my favorite stations on there. As a bonus I can fast forward parts i dont like.
Online is 128kbps, over the air is 40-50kpbs (at best, for music) and it sounds awful. |

I didn't order it on my Z4 as it was a dealer trade and not an order, so I decided to purchase all the parts and install it myself.
My Z4 lease is due in less then 5 weeks, so I can make a deal with you if you want to purchase the OEM parts for a retrofit. It's a pretty simple install, and might take you about 2 hours or so. I'm not sure that the part number on the receivers are the same, you might want to get part numbers from the parts department and we can compare if you're interested. |

you CAN use your shark fin as you sat antenna. this is really useful if you have tint on your car or you want to keep it looking OEM. THe guys over at E90post have shown that SAT prep means you can just extend the cable from the trunk to your aftermarket Sirius/XM unit and be good to go!

can you guys post up pictures of your install. I saw the linked threads for the e90, but since its going to be on the 1er wiring and such will be in different locations. I have a pioneer inno with xm subscription, and I want to do an install using the shark fin antenna. I like having the ability to record whatever song I like on the fly and play it back later.
