Upper seats hot using the ventilated seats

‘24 x7

Noticed that the upper part of the seats (driver and passenger) get hot when the air con is running and ventilated seats are on.

What’s the point of ventilated seats when my upper back starts to feel hot?

Anyone else experience this?

(I’ve read all about he air con issues, having the same problem. Service center said they were aware of this but no fix)

2025 X7 40.
Ventilated seats are a joke compared to my previous Audi Q7.
You can hear a lot of noise from fans spinning in the seats (you can even feel the vibration) but there is no air movement. Very disappointed.

The ventilated seats are a joke on all BMWs. Nothing wrong with your car, that's how it is unfortunately.

I agree, it’s just frustrating that the seats actually get hot when the vents are on

The air coming out of the ventilated seats is wholly dependent on the temperature of your cabin as there’s no cooling elements in the seat itself.

If you set your AC to blow on the floor that will help things a bit.

You’re not wrong. My fiance and I both looked at each other when we turned them on and said, “is your back hot?” I haven’t used them since.

I have a 50i also and the seat fans worked better than the 60i, but not great…

seat ventilation in BMWs sucks air into the seat. If you get into a car that has sat under the sun for long and inside the car is hot, if you immediately turn on seat ventilation before AC cools down the cabin, you would feel hot because the hot interior air gets sucked through those holes. It is best to wait until the cabin is at your desired temperature then turn on the ventilation seat. I know it is counter intuitive but they help in long road trips by avoiding your back get sweaty.

Air doesn't come out, it sucks air in, to move hot air from body.

That's my understanding of BMW ventilated seats.

I don’t even waste my time turning on seats ventilation. It does absolutely nothing but noise.

Well I have to admit a few days this week when the temperatures were lower in Texas, When i drove into work (my car was sitting in garage overnight) The ventilation was felt. I mean to feel the upper body I had to lift myself off the seat to let the air flow through, But I felt cooled…. It just was a lot of effort constantly lifting myself off the backs of the seats during my drive? I mean really?

Yes, BMW's seat ventilation works best on days when it's least needed.
