fire extinguisher mount?

I got signed up for a Pocono track day this upcoming memorial day. The corvette club requires a mounted fire extinguisher. Any suggestions on a fire extinguisher and a mount type/placement? I would prefer something that would not require any drilling or leave any noticeable blemishes in the interior.

FYI, I ended up mounting in the trunk. There is a strap on the left hand side that works perfectly.

Pics! I thought that clubs that require an extinguisher, require it in the passenger compartment somewhere? I saw the original thread, and couldn't think of anything you could do without drilling.

I'm sure some clubs probably require it in-cockput. My local BMW CCA chapter doesn't require one for their driving schools, but the corvette club I ran with at Pocono last week did. I will grab a pic tonight and post it.

Thanks Alex. That seems to a great, out of the way place. I didn't know what strap you were talking about, and had to just now go out to the garage to see that I also had that.

So I want to attend a track event, too (Streets of Willow @ Willow Springs), but the Shelby Club requires METAL MOUNTING BRACKETS for the fire extinguisher... plus located in cockpit.

Any suggestions? (without drilling)
Will someone make a fire extinguisher mount for the passenger seat rails? I might have to custom-build one from aluminum sheet.

I can make you one. We have plenty of aluminum sheet. Hell, you're welcome to do it yourself with our tools for free. Just pay for the material and bring some soda

You might not want to remove the passenger seat though. Airbag light will come on and it WILL NOT turn off (even with pulling the battery) unless you go to the dealer to get it turned off.

Hmmm... I might take you up on this (but I'm checking into some existing mounts/brackets... i.e. E36 M3).

Will the airbag light come on even if I just unbolt the 2 front hex bolts that mount to the seat rails??? These would have to come out to slide any mount underneath.

I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the offer, Fred! I still want to do the Streets of Willow event while you're at Button Willow.

As long as you don't unplug the seat harness, the MRS light won't come on.

Thanks! ...just what I needed to know. Looks like I'll either build a bracket or try to modify a Porsche bracket (see below). This mount has holes 16.0 C-C apart. Our 135i seat rail bolts are 16.5" C-C apart.

Fred, you should make something like this for the 1-series and sell them for $70 a pop. Is that profitable? I'm sure there will be 135i owners that will want to do track days without installing roll bars/cages.

That is not difficult to build at all.

It would only be profitable if you sold A LOT of them. I doubt many would want or need it. Only certain clubs require that. I could be wrong though so if you enough of you guys want it, I can build it. Won't take me long at all. However, a fire extinguisher that small is only good enough to take out cigarette butts with.

www.realoem.com has a BMW fire extinguisher with metal bracket, all very professional. I couldn't be 100% sure but from the picture it looks like it mounts to the front of the passenger seat, between the seat rails.
